Being pedantic, there is no "last man" rule (or Law to be even more pedantic). "Law 12: DENYING A GOAL OR AN OBVIOUS GOAL-SCORING OPPORTUNITY ...Thanks for posting the relevant Law. The video also makes it clear that when Wolves scored, they had a player in an offside position, apparently directly blocking the view of Slocombe. The funny thing is that not one of the Rovers players appealed for the offside at the time. Should you appeal in that situation, or concentrate on trying to stop the attacker and actually trust the linesmen to do his job correctly

The funny thing is that not one of the Rovers players appealed for the offside at the time. Should you appeal in that situation, or concentrate on trying to stop the attacker and actually trust the linesmen to do his job correctly I agree that you should be fully focused on trying to stop the attacker. Once the ball has hit the back of the net, though, you've got a choice. Remember, the first goal at Bradford should have been ruled out for a player standing in an offside position. The Sky commentary team thought it very strange that no Rovers player appealed, even though the TV pictures made it clear that the goal should not have stood. It is obvious to me that the higher the standard of football, these days, the more the officials respond to "appeals" from the players, whether they be calls for offside or for fouls. Nine times out of ten these days, if there is no appeal, the ref / assistant assume that there is no case to answer. We've got a great spirit in the squad...but we need to wise up.

Mark Whittaker Mark Whittaker As a Wolves fan, got to admire the way you took the game to us,and unlucky not to get the result you deserved. You should be proud of the support too as twice as many fans as your near neighbours brought last weekend. Wish you well for the season and hope you win promotion LikeShow More Reactions · Reply · 5 · 6 hrs.
