A glimmer of light but the obvious lack of quality in the defence has been the key factor today. As poor as we have been. Bradford havent created much danger. Problem has been defending corners and free kicks. Isn't this exactly where we were 12 months ago? Nothing wrong when we are on the front foot, defence totally disorganised, midfield not disciplined in front of defence, when crosses and corners come in we take off our normal outfield 10 and bring on our 'special team' of of The Keystone Cops.

They were cuter at taking set pieces than we were defending them, that's down to the training ground as much as inexperienced players and pairings. I'm sure some fans were thinking, phew we only lost 3-1. DC's selections often confuse us, but he's still working on the team. There's hope, and it is so early in the season.

Ollie Clarke was awful, didn't look up for it and gave the ball away every time he had it, all 3 goals shouldn't have stood, 2 were offside and one was the result of blocking which referees were supposed to sort out. Burn & Broadbent haven't even played 20 league games between them, they looked poor at set pieces but you can't fault them for anything in open play. Byron Moore proved why it was an absolute disgrace we didn't bring in a wide player on Thursday, the problem with playing a front 3 is that you are asking strikers to play in a wide role and it's not a natural position for Harrison, Nichols or Gaffney, the complete lack of wingers in the squad means you can forget us ever playing 4-4-2, i think the squad is set up to play 3-5-2, Bradford destroyed us today playing that formation, it was like they were playing with 12 men. Continued off field instability together with a lack of experience and quality in key areas means this season will be a very inconsistent one at best, i'd happily take mid table now.

Surprisingly good quality picture coming through here in NZ even if it is Swedish commentary. The Swedish broadcast had the English Sky commentary.

How many times last year did we ship multiple goals and look a mess defensively? Fulham missed a hatfull of chances, but that doesn't take away from your point, it's not every game, but it does keep happening.

No Partington, Leadbitter starts - and no Telford but Byron Moore as part of front 3. I suppose DC knows what he's doing... No one can say that DC doesn't keep us entertained in guessing the team but why not start with Telford , especially after his brace midweek ? I really see Moore as a dud. I think he needs some jump leads. Broadbent had a bad day at the office too. Just let his man go free, for their 2nd goal. It's going to be interesting with this squad, up until January

Yet here in actual Sweden I couldn't see the game. Broadcast on ViaPlay which I don't have, so not broadcast in iFollow, which, for increasingly unsure reasons, I do. Bristol Rovers är fruktansvärt dåligt på bortaplan, förresten... Surprisingly good quality picture coming through here in NZ even if it is Swedish commentary. The Swedish broadcast had the English Sky commentary.

Burn and Moore are surplus to requirements can we get montano back on a free broadbent is still learning will improve in time only one other team has conceded more goals that is a massive worry.

Bradford are one of the best teams in the league especially in front of 19,000 fans. I know people like scapegoats but most of the team struggled today with some good moments from bodin and i thought ellis did very well without much support upfront.

I think that sums it up very well and I am in total agreement. SteveK was given an hard time about it yet we have had plenty of time to get the player or players we needed. Letting Montano go now looks quite daftt, in my opinion anyway but what do I know ? I'm just a fan. I feel sorry for the gasheads who are travelling back now.

Its undeniable that our two centre halves struggled badly today (I thought Burn particularly had a very bad game), but they were facing one of the division's better centre forwards and both were making 'rare' first team appearances and therefore can be forgiven for struggling, in my opinion. They'll hopefully be better players for the experience in the long run.
I'm glad we got a goal, and pleased with Nicholls' contribution to it, he was unlucky not to see his shot go in.

When I saw Moore on the team sheet and not Nichols I do sometimes wonder if DC likes to test his new signings, to see if they get angry or get on with it. I think the period with Nichols on was better. We paid for Burn, is he is development squad player or supposed to be a first team player ?

Bradford are a very good team and played well. I don't think Broadbent was too bad, ok for the third goal he might have done something but we were sliced open for it so it's a bit harsh to blame him completely. In the first half Broadbent played well when we were being overrun and he helped keep it down to 1-0. Perhaps not so good second half. Where was Leadbitter for the first goal? He'd got sucked into the middle leaving the right side unprotected. And the midfield were slow starters and it took them until the second half before we saw them. We're Bristol Rovers not a PL outfit and we can't afford to go to one of the best teams without our first choice centre backs. Charlie Wyke is a better player than we faced at Wycombe, it was always going to be tough and so it turned out. Still I think DC would have learnt something today even if it was a negative! UTG!

I thought Bradford did to us what we did to Fleetwood last week - made us look very ordinary indeed. Well, the defence had a mare and looked much worse than that
the bloke I watched it with reminded me that DC fancied that Bradford would win their play-off ('would have too much for Millwall' or something like that). I could see why

If the montano decision was wrong he will obviously prove dc wrong by becoming a top league one player in the near future and at least be a top performer at port vale so we will see. Burn is not a development squad player. Thing about stevek or anyone else saying we need 3 or 4 players after we signed 8 is who do these punters think we are? Barcelona or something?
