With two called up already and who knows maybe Bodin and Harrison for Wales the Bradford City match may be postponed ?

Billy or Ellis for Wales senior squad? Can't see it but who knows if they get a couple of withdrawals from the squad...
I don't think Sky would be too keen adjusting their scheduling

That actually has a dramatic impact on our defence.
Away to Bradford is about as tough as it gets, we need the option of either player at a minimum, imo..
On a more positive note, congrats to both players for recognition.

I would hope so, Lockyer and Sweeney are our best respective technical and aerial defenders.

About time Burn got a chance, plus Broadbent can come back from wherever DC has tossed him and partner Burn, a more than decent enough pairing. No chance of anymore call ups, but even if there was, can we afford to turn down the money from sky.

Massive blow to lose lockyer and sweeney. Nobody knows how good burn and broadbent are as we havnt seen them play very much, bradford away a good test for them if dc does select those 2.

Sweeney is a loan and wouldn't count anyway, I think? So we'd need two others to be called up and our 'youngsters' Billy and Ellis are presumably too old now.
A bit annoying, but DC will have known this was likely to happen when he assembled his squad. Burn and Broadbent are ready-made replacements, assuming both are fit.

I would like to see Broadbent and Burn or maybe Broadbent and Partington,as you say if they are fit, same with Ollie Clark. I hope the game is on as we have been looking forward to going, dont fancy the journey back if its a night game though.

He brought in 'proven' commodity Sweeney and paired him with the captain Anything good to say about Ellis from the other night?

Offer Joe Ledley a contract (ok I am dreaming) and it could be sorted.

I have no idea why Broadbent has been taken out of the side, IMO i think we should be playing 3-5-2, we have zero quality in the wide areas (Bodin for me should be playing in a free role behind the striker), and i think a back 3 of Lockyer, Sweeney & Broadbent would be very impressive, maybe Broadbent needs time to settle into a professional club environment and DC doesn't want to rush him, i certainly hope to see him start at Bradford and in the EFL Trophy games. As for Ellis, he scored 4 against Northampton last season and was then awful for 3 months, 1 goal at Fulham doesn't give me any hope that he will deliver on a consistent basis.

Do you know whether the football associations of countries compensate clubs if they take players out of club selection? Afterall, I'm assuming there's at least a 4-figure wage we're paying for players who aren't available for at least a week.

I kinda like Broadbent and Burn as a pair. Broadbent can play as a stopper, while Burn covers the back and any spaces Leadbitter might leave behind. It's not ideal, but it's not the end of the world either.

The way Sweeney has been playing lately, I'm not sure we will miss him all that much!

Yes, I think he will get better but I do think he has had a slow start. I just get the impression some fans think he is some sort of god who never has a bad game, when in fact he is a pretty decent player for us who has off days like every player does, something I wish fans would bear in mind when judging any players performance.

Sweeney may be a little ring rusty, but he made the EFL's team of the Caribou Cup's latest round:
Another League One outift to keep a side from the tier above at bay were Bristol Rovers, who held firm to defeat Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Going a goal ahead early on, Darrell Clarke's men were prepared for an onslaught, but Sweeney – along with his fellow defenders – dealt with everything the Cottagers had to offer.
Personally I think the award was made because we knocked a Championship side out, but good luck to him and perhaps it will spur him on.
(Sadly the team's manager was LJ)
