Harrison, today agreed to extend his stay with the club when he signed the new contract offered to him at the end of last season.
The 23 year old, who graduated through the ranks at the club, made his first team debut when going on as a second half substitute at Southampton in April 2011.
Speaking after he had signed his contract, Ellis said; “The fans are the biggest reason behind me signing a new contract. They are very passionate and I’m looking forward to playing in front of them again next season.”
"The Manager obviously wants to progress and I'm glad that the contract has now been signed and completed ahead of the start of pre-season training."
"Last season was very disappointing for me and I didn't get anywhere near the targets I set myself, but this year I'm determined to achieve the goals I set myself."
Manager Darrell Clarke added; “I am delighted that Ellis has agreed to sign his new contract.
“I know that he divides opinion amongst our supporters but we should remember that he is still only 23 and he continues to improve all the time.
“His attitude has been first class for the last couple of seasons and I could have sold him during that time for a six figure fee had I wanted to.
“I really am looking forward to working with him again next season as he will be an important member of our squad.”
He signed his first professional contract in the summer of 2012 and made his first start for the club in a 3-0 win against Fleetwood Town on 12th January 2013, and scored his first senior goal two weeks later, in a 3-1 win against Rotherham United.
A Welsh U-21 international, Ellis won Welsh U-21 caps against Lithuania and San Marino in October 2013 and scored his first goal for his country against San Marino.
Placed on the transfer list at the end of the 2013/14 campaign, he worked hard in pre-season training and featured regularly in the squad in 2014/15, making most of his appearances from the bench. He scored the first hat trick of his career in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup when Rovers registered a 7-1 win against Dorchester Town.
An extended run in the side towards the end of the season saw him score at Wembley in the Promotion Play Off Final against Grimsby Town.
After scoring in our league match at Oxford January 2016, Ellis spent a month’s loan with Hartlepool, but he returned to score some important goals for Rovers as promotion was clinched on the final day of the season.
Last season he scored four goals, the first Rovers player to do so in a match since Rickie Lambert, in a 5-0 win against Northampton Town, on 7th January 2017.
To date his Rovers career has taken in 141 league games and 32 goals.

Excellent news. He has the ability. Sometimes lacks the confidence. So get behind him.

Good news, always liked Ellis, can be a real threat at this level. Of course he needs to improve, as do a few others but has all the physical attributes needed to be a very decent L1 player.

Hopefully Ellis scores boatloads this season and finally shuts up the tedious fools who stand near us on the West.

Nice salute to the fans in his interview.
Well done Ellis, I'm sure we'll see something amazing again this season, like we have at times before..

National league south at best IMO. 14 goals in 38 games at Conference level suggest you're talking pish IMO.

Good to have him sign. If he's good enough for DC then that's ok. Might not be a regular starter but he has the ability to do well. If he has a storming pre season and starts well and scores and plays well we'll all be glad and say DC is a genius. By signing we haven't lost anything and him and Rory are at least good back up. More signings to come I'm sure. UTG!

I'd be interested if someone could name a pound for pound player treated worse than the supporters than Ellis?
There has genuinely been the odd occasion that I've heard stuff spouted about him at games/on Twitter that have made me question whether there's a better way to spend my time and money than watching Rovers.
My biggest bugbear with him is his consistency and for that alone he'll need an astonishing pre season to convince me, as one of his biggest fans that he's worthy of a starting place in a top 6 League One side, but there is certainly a talent there.
His interview on the OS is a cracker, no media trained cliched sound bit bollocks just refreshing honesty. Really hope this is his season.

I'd be interested if someone could name a pound for pound player treated worse than the supporters than Ellis? Steve White. Perrenially the target of the North Enclosure boo boys, despite oozing class and scoring goals. His main crime appeared to be not being Paul Randall.

Jamie Cureton used to get a load of stick despite scoring 25 goals one season

Good player but doesn't show it often enough.
Huge season for him as this surely must be his last chance with us?

an 'extension' to his football brain would be useful and then we would not have to listen to 'he is only young' (now 23) 'improving every season' 'this is going to be his year' ' he needs time to mature' etc etc

Hopefully Ellis scores boatloads this season and finally shuts up the tedious fools who stand near us on the West. Delighted and firmly echo your sentiments. Me & the friend I go with are now going to stand away from that particular area as it could have got very bad at one point. I know I sound like an old fart but it's probably because, at 53, I guess I am but I've never know such animosity to one of our own players. I remobed myself from ALL Rovers relayed groups on Facebook as when one poster said he hoped Gaffers was oitmflr the season and got a fair bit of back up, I knew it was time to let go. I am just of an age where I missed the late 50's and up to mid 50's football but I bet no one wished injury upon our own players. It disgusts me beyond my mere words.
