the most disappointed I've ever been about a Rovers signing, I think
interesting to read some of the background to that. He comes across as a sensitive ('non-Millwall') soul, who needed a certain style of management to get the best out of him - and we provided the opposite

He was signed as our right back after the man u v millwall fa cup final season....he was touted as 'marking Ronaldo the match before'.....i think the Spanish tax office got more change out of him and ryans league performances didn't improve with us. Ultimately and understandably forgettable.

I remember our Physio describing him as a young man with the body of a pensioner. Lovely bloke though.

“I’m not blaming the gaffer, it was me who played sh1t but I didn’t get on with him from day one and all of a sudden I lost my confidence completely." That's the gaffer who signed him. That would be the charmless bull in a china shop, in the form of a man on a gantry, I Atkins. Surely not.

Never forget him. For all the wrong reasons. On the long list of horrendously s**t players that wore the quarters between 2001 & 2005.

I felt sorry for him in a rovers shirt. He was clearly a right back of limited ability but not a bad defender. Atkins insisted on playing him as a right wing back and he simply could not handle that role. He lost all confidence and his career never recovered. When ronaldo was asked who was his toughest opponent he didnt hesitate "robbie ryan" he said,at least i think he said that?

I was quite excited when I read we's signed a defender who'd just played in the cup final, but Robbie was just another average 'journeyman' signing.

Indeed, at the time it seemed like we'd never escape the cycle of s**te we found ourselves in. Gawd bless Trolls.
