Sacked by Grimsby after five months. From what I can see partly because Russell Slade came free and the chairman wanted him.
I was broady wishing them well after 2015, but forget it. It's not just because it's one of ours that they've crapped on: a young manager working his way up, getting success, viewed as a prospect, taken on, but promptly spat out. It's wrong.
Good luck to Marcus finding someone better.

It's not as if Marcus was doing a bad job either, first crack at League management and he was more than holding his own. I agree that he's been treated badly, but can't blame that on Mariners supporters, that would be like blaming you for Kevin being banned from The Mem wouldn't it? Here you go, as good as confirmed that Marcus did nothing wrong and it wasn't the supporters who made the decision; www.grimsby-townfc.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/john-fenty-why-we-appointed-russell-3671741.aspxSolihull could do with some help for the rest of the season, they've fallen to pieces in recent weeks and are in danger of dropping straight back out of the 5th tier.

Mind you having seen their forum over the past 3 months there was not universal support for Bignot. It seemed he had quite a marmite effect. The gist of it was he talked a good game but the players didn't know what he was on about and had lost the dressing room. Feel sorry for him but once senior players go against you then it becomes very difficult. He inherited a team placed well for the play offs and tried to change too much according to the fans. He believed in revolution not evolution! Trouble was the club didn't need revolution, they needed small changes to maintain the progress being made. Instead he tried too many changes, lost by some hefty margins (3 losses by 5 goals), left out some long standing players (Disley, McKeown) and divided the fans. I obviously know very little but gleaned this from their new fishy site. In his season here we beat Everton but ended up getting relegated I can't remember too much. All I seem to recall was that he was fairly competitive on and off the pitch but I may be wrong.

Marcus had experience in the 6th tier and was doing a decent job with bugger all resource in his first season in the 5th tier. Did Grimsby really think he was going to jump straight into a tough L2 and win the title? He was doing OK, finding his feet. We all love Dis, but he wasn't the future, maybe Marcus was taking a longer term view? We've been turned over several times this season, all that does is let's us know that our manager is still learning and our squad isn't the finished article yet. Either way, they now have a revolving door manager with a stupid hat. This is Slade's 4th job in the last 12 months.

Yes much of what you say is true. But from their forum it appears, if true, that it's more due to him losing the dressing room and senior pros being jarred off with his approach. Most of the fans agree that Disley isn't the future but it was the way it was done that upset many. Their chairman was perhaps nervous of trusting the close season preparation to him including the money to be spent. I'm sure he will find a job in the National League or even League 2 because as you say his results weren't too bad.

Difficult isn't it, we've seen first hand what happens when a group of senior ''professional'' players decide they know best. Either way, Marcus has done enough already to show that he's no mug, he'll be back.
