Didn't have the best ability, he wasn't the paciest, but his heart and passion shone through. A true gent and wonderful professional, I'll miss him.
Thank you Macca.

I remember thinking at Wembley why doesn't he change that ripped shirt - then the penny finally dropped. There was no way could the forward pull his shirt again as it would rip right off his back. Very clever and dedicated pro. Forever a double promotion Gas Legend.

Top professional. All the best Macca - A double promotion captain (the first in Rovers history?). I presume if this is by "mutual consent" he has a short term contract at Conference level...

The timing suggests a return to Ireland to me. Good luck and thanks Mark, your reaction at the end of the penalty shootout said it all!

Yes agree with all. I'm sorry we won't get the chance to say goodbye properly on the pitch but a great club man over the four years. Never forget his reaction on Manse's penalty sheer relief just like mine! And his standard did improve so that he didn't look out of place in the few appearances since Christmas, he improved his standard. One of the best clubmen at the club sinc 2000. He will always have the thanks and lasting respect of all true gasheads. Thanks Macca and good luck in whatever you do. UTG!

from it all it looks like he's the sort of bloke that makes the most of himself and his life. Can't help but think that he'll continue to do well

Slight tear in my eye as I read this - great pro, nice fella but most of all his leadership when it was needed shone through and Gasheads will always be grateful for getting us back into the Football League and then L1 so quickly.
Never forget the Wembley celebration & the delight last Apri/May - will always be a big welcome at the Mem for Mark McCrystal - top man!

Captain of 2 promotion winning teams - think he probably deserves a bigger Rovers reputation than he currently has to be honest.

McChrystal was the bedrock of the team, particularly in our non-league season. He gave us some sorely-needed stability when everything about the club in general was looking ragged and disorganised. Thanks and good luck Mark.

Always seems so abrupt..'has left the club'...especially after great service. Anyone have any ideas where he's going? Back to Ireland?

Thought he might go in the summer but was a true professional and good servant for the club. He will be remembered fondly for helping us get our club back. Best of luck for the future.

He has heart and passion and when we needed sleeves rolled up, he was front of the queue.
Unsung hero, he was perfect in nurturing Tom on and served the club admirably.
Top pro, will always be welcomed home here at Mem, or wherever that home may be.
Good luck, Macca!

Great professional one of the few not to blame for relegation & led us back superbly. Hope he has success in the future.

It may be that a club has expressed interest in him so we have released him so that he can be a free agent and can better negotiate terms. Only guessing, but it would be good if that were so.

Also remember his volley that clipped the crossbar late on against Mansfield on that fateful day. But for a few inches lower, he might have changed our history that day but he certainly made up for it nevertheless. Quality player throughout his time here and wish him all the best.
