Hold the front page! Daffney provides no goal threat and Lockyer was poor. If you need cheering up - anything on the Ones**tinBristol forum makes excellent reading. 4 of their next 5 fixtures - Leeds, Newcastle, Sheffield Weds and Villa.

people who say about defensive coaching is all very well but lockyer, hartley, james clarke and clarke-salter havnt been good enough and of course roos and puddy have struggled. I liken it too man city in that if the players are not up to that level like otomendy, stones etc even if pep guardiola is coaching your going to let goals in. Not saying you are wrong, but so many goals we let in are carbon copies. You could have the best defenders around, if the midfield in front of them don't do their job then the defenders don't stand a chance. Remember Adam Barrett, struggled here, mainly because we had no cover in front of him, went to Sarfend and did OK for himself. Wide players who stop crosses coming in would be nice as well. very true of course, just that v barrow for example hartley and lockyer hardly won a header and the same with clarke-salter at home v charlton which worried me because thats the centre-halves job,but of course keepers have struggled, full backs brown and leadbitter have been very game and at times effective going forward but havnt always got close enough to there markers to stop crosses and maybe at times the midfield havnt picked up runners though i havnt picked up on that as much.

Again individual errors prove costly. Much like Charlton, we held our own for most of first half. We were clinically taken apart from again woeful defending.
It proves some players seem immune from criticism, yet others are jumped on harshly from a height.
Tom Locks just needs a rest. The heart was ripped as he slipped.
Lines didn't turn up.
Moore? Less, please on this display.
Gaff offered little.
With 6departures this week, some of those players took stick, but lets be honest, I seen some awful play from some of the above which helped gift another 3goals and points to opposition. Again.
Walsall were physical, big, strong and played with purpose. We accentuated their goal margin. They deserved their win. Fair play. But we helped them.
I'm not first or last to say, but I fail to see why Tom Locks holds down a first team place, let alone captaincy when almost every game he makes serious mistakes?
On positive notes:
Bodin was fantastic today. Another turn in match when he was subbed. He played like a magician today. Hope he recovers quickly.
Joanna Lumley was decisive, organised. Looks good. Made one save and really had not much to do apart from the obvious. I like his posture, he's vocal and has presence in the box.
Ollie was my pick of the mid. Set up a Taylor strike that might had made a difference at 1-0. Tracked back, involved in game, box to box, dealt with their physicality ok.
Our crowd again fantastic. We continue to get caught out with our own love for this club in numbers, all whilst at same time leave feeling let down at result. Someone from Walsall tweeted we were louder that sheff utd at start of match. Well done, us!
Frustrating day. Had a good day out with friends and seen alot of faces, but we were beaten all too easily by a team that aren't much better than us (if at all).
After bitter taste of Charlton away, now the soft centre of our defensive frailties, my pallet ain't as sweet as it used to be..

It might be just me, but I don't think we deserved that today. First 44 minutes we were on top. Second half, we turned off for a while, but came back into things. O2... We'll agree to disagree mate. I thought Linesy did fine. Please tell me why Stuart S still gets a game though.

I was hoping that Lumley would be absolutely fabulous but heigh ho
hidden under the bad recent headlines, Ollie seems to be hitting quite a vein of form recently. Long may that continue

Herein lies part of what I'm trying to say. One poor match and Ollie will sure to be dropped, slagged, slated, even though a poor match by his standards doesn't mean conceding easy goals or missing easy chances. Anyhoos, I've given up trying to work that one out. The lad done well today. Shame not all did..

The substitutions didn't help, nor the starting formation - we seemed disorganised and muddled for too many periods in the game. Still think we are best set up as a straight forward 4.4.2

I was probably reacting (full of cider) to the complete nonsense on the alleged "appreciation" site about Darrell and Chris Lines. It's all opinions and to be fair, yours is probably more balanced and reasonable than mine 😁

They are saving Villa for another day as they have a small matter of a trip to Premier league Burnley next weekend in the Cup.
