Yep. No consistency by Referees. Now it may well be true that I've led a sheltered life , but I really can't see the harm in a player celebrating with the supporters after he's just score a goal. From what I can see Charlie Colkett never entered the terracing or removed his shirt, so I do wonder what on earth he's done wrong. Not under the rules as they stand mind you, but common sense. Anything that brings the crowd into the game and involves them in a positive way, must be a good thing. I'll bet some of those younger supporters will remember that moment for quite some time to come. Excellent goal though I thought, he drilled it. He's far too good for this Division and can only get better.

Thought I'd get in early.... Another tough one for the boys today but most reports from the Sheff Utd game indicate we played well, which is encouraging. There's also talk on some social media that we may have Taylor back for this one too. So what do we reckon? I'm playing the optimist and going for one of those "Where did that come from" score lines and a 3-0 win to the Gas! COYB!! Optimism paid off

Its supposed to be a booking every time, I think. Some refs appear to use a bit of discretion. Its the rule that is wrong, not the ref. Maybe it is wrong, but if it is a rule it should be applied in a consistent manner. Probably one of the easier ones to spot! The fact that the ball has gone in the net and a player is buried under a crowd of celebrating fans is a bit of a clue.

Unless I didn't like the player, or the team, or his manager etc. Its probably just as well I'm not a ref.

Gaffney really is horses*** when not playing for a permanent deal. Bizarre formation, not really sure what DC is trying to do here, utterly dreadful first half yet again. We can only improve but DC has to address this. .....actually he was the best player on the pitch!

Quote from a friend of mine at the game, 'Colkett has been incredible, best debut I've seen in 40 years'. Wonderful with the ball at his feet, never wasted a pass or possession and always looked comfortable even when under pressure. Not the quickest and being quite small not so strong in the air but he does some great stuff with the ball and has composure beyond his tender years. I can understand DC using sparingly so far but think he might now become regular, far better bet than Olly Clarke & Sincs but a totally different player of course. The goal capped a fab day for him. Truly was a great debut!

Huge credit to Connor Roberts too, waited for his chance and another who looked assured on the ball, tackled and governed well and not at all out of place. Another great option for DC.

Despite that i dont think Northampton oberly troubled us and we gave them both goals. Second half Gaffney was superb and the team improved immensely with everything so much quicker. Rory was unlucky not to have had a second goal. Taylor went close sbould have had at least one penalty Only Linesy stupid cross field ball stopped us from slaughtering secound half as it took some of the wind out of the sails and we had to get going again Fully deserved 3 points.

Plus, eight of those eleven games have been against clubs in the top half of the table, including all except one of (the rest of) the top eight. Not bad! Is this a hugely naive thought? Is there a connection between the first halves being less successful, and the regular squad churn, with that game's set-up spending twenty minutes to familiarise itself with itself? Either way, it seems to work, and it's good to have options, so that's all good. Depends what you mean by 'squad churn', if you mean the manager getting formation and tactics wrong in the first half, then, yes. But he seems to be able to work it out at half time. I just don't get why we seem to get the first half wrong so many times when he says that each game is a separate project, so presumably he prepares for each team individually. Maybe we need new scouts? Strange that he gets it "wrong" but we win 3.2 at Northampton & inflict only their 2nd defeat in about 40 games & first home defeat in 10 months. Probably just lucky? Perhaps he is a genius!

But this season we are making life hard for ourselves by making a mess of the first 45 mins and having to chase games, he has said so himself. I agree, outstanding result against a team with a superb home record and at a ground where we traditionally don't do well.

We've had slow starts in the league in the previous two years, at least it's only been slow starts to games this year and we have usually sorted it come the full time whistle. I'm sure it'll be sorted out for good sooner rather than later though.

Project management went well for DC as usual. He recommends Eddie Howe for England. Will DC replace Howe at AFC Bournemouth?
