Thought it would be good idea to start a thread, and continue, of any funny or memorable anecdotes of away venues we are about to visit?
Or even for some of you to admit you're a virgin at this venue?!
First season went ok, lets to see how this goes..
For me, I've never visited the place so happy to confess Saturday will be a first for me. Particularly interested in stories from Old Show Ground?
Safe journey, Gas.....let's cheer us on for an opening 3points of DC uncharted territory.. UptheGas!

I remember us beating them 2-1 twice in one year, and I definitely went to the tense away game. 3 hour journey, traffic-plagued trek from Essex on the hottest day of the year! I would have been about 9 or 10 at the time. I very vaguely remember their sponsor that year was Dr Martens shoes...

Opening game about 11 years ago when Lee Hodges scored in the last minute. Can't remember if we win or drew with that goal.

I've only been once that I can remember, we won 2-0 even though they were top and we were a one man team missing that one man. Duffy and Kuffour scored.
I can't believe that was seven years ago.

Single tier ground all the way round, I recall. Just a bit too far from the station to walk so jumped in a taxi with others and shared the fare. Cracked reinforced glass at the ticket booth. Score? can't remember!!!

I have only been there twice. Never got to the Old Show Ground unfortunately, but my first visit to Glanford Park ,must have 20 odd years ago. at the time I was trying to do the 92, so took every opportunity to do a new ground. At the time my wife was starting to get pissed off about being left home alone, so she said she wanted to come along. It was the M18 derby, a 0-0 with Doncaster Rovers in absolutely freezing weather, and I took her to a Brewers Fayre for lunch. It did the trick, and she never asked to join me again. The only time I have been with Rovers was the 'Hodgeys gonna get you' year on the first day of the season. Sadly the game sticks in the mind for sadder reasons, as we later found out an old Oldbury Court mate , Steve Yapp, died listening to the game in the Downend Tavern. Apparently his last words were 'yes, we won!!' and then he went. We all have to go sometime, but I think Yapper must have been early 40s at the time.

Went there years ago and tried to get into a nearby pub. Bouncers on the door were not polite and told us this was a home fans only pub and to f off. I noticed there was a side entrance to the pub and so we walked around the corner and got into the pub that way. Went to the bar and ordered a short just so we could down it and then ask the bouncers on the main door to mind us please as we left, all within a minute of being sworn at. And we won 2-0 so good memories of the day

I am currently wearing the legendary stone & black. They have BRFC 2001-2003 stitched on the collar. Pretty sure we only wore them for one season though - quite possibly when we finished above just Halifax (the last season only one went down from Div 4).
