And everyone was fit and we signed no-one else/no-one else left...what would be your team/subs/formation.
For me:
Mildy
Leadbitter Lockyer Hartley Brown
Bodin Lines Mansell Moore
Harrison Taylor
Subs: Puddy, J Clarke, Sinclair, Montano, Easter, Gaffney, James

I don't think that Taylor / Harrison works that well, either Taylor / Gaffney or maybe try Taylor / Bodin with Moore and Montano as the wide players. I think that the problem area is the central midfield,I have liked Mansell the last 2 seasons but I wonder if he is going to cope at this level ( I really hope that he does )I wonder if this is where one of the '2 or 3 quality players' that DC wants will come in.

Haven't seen Moore yet so it's a bit unfair but I think it would give Montano a big lift to get DCs vote and could pay dividends. Only 2 weeks before we will know!

No room for Macca then? Not even the bench? I thought he was excellent last night, especially with the defensive line being makeshift for large parts.
Difficult to form an opinion, as I'm only going on the one game at Bath, but all I remember of Hartley's performance was taking his eye off the ball and letting a simple pass go out for a throw, and giving away some silly cheap fouls with needless shoves on opponents.
Think I'd start with Macca still.

I'd go...
___________Mildenhall Leadbitter_Lockyer_Hartley_Brown ______________Mansell ________Sinclair_______Lines __Bodin________Taylor______Moore
...mainly because I'm not convinced we have a strong enough midfield duo at this level to play 4-4-2.
But if we were to sign a strong defensive midfielder to play next to Lines, I'd stick with 4-4-2.

Wouldn't rule that out at all mate, we haven't seen it in pre-season but when James signed, DC mentioned him being able to play as a wide man in a front three so he's another option there. As for Macca, it was close between him and Hartley for a start and he would be ahead of J Clarke in that regard, it's just I'd rather have JC on the bench as he can cover full back as well.

Moore
Gaffney Sinclair Montano Brown
Lines Mildenhall Puddy Greenslade
McChrystal Mansell
I'd put that side out in protest at the season starting on a Friday in July.

Jesus do you always have to be such a sarcastic tit Sure you were a keen participant in these sorts of rubbish pre-season threads back in the glory days of the official forum!

Gosling will play a major part this season as a replacement for the inconsistent Lines

With the first game being away will it be a conservative selection or will we go for it?

I'd play the side that finished the Daggers match.....don't change a winning team! I only saw the debacle at Twerton Park so can't really comment on the new arrivals. But we knew our starting XI and we knew the formation (Woy Hodgson take note) on the triumphant march to promotion. I would like to see how they get on in League 1. No-one is raving about the signings. Maybe they have to prove to DC that they have to earn the right to wear the quarters. Pretty much as you were for me, with the exception of Gaffney - who looked several yards off the pace when he came back from injury. Taylor/Easter or Taylor/Harrison up front for me. We had a very strong bench at the back end of last season, with loads of quality options. Sinclair back + new signings, it just got stronger. UTG.

DC has plan b which woy didn't but keep it quiet in case they make him England manager

I would definitely expect a couple or 3 more and proven players to be onboard before we start. Have heard a few rumblings about possible deals but obviously am not going to go there as I just make myself look stupider than I already am lol

4-2-3-1 formation, Mildenhall in goal but I would be on the lookout for a better number 2 than Puddy. LB - Lee Brown RB - Daniel Leadbitter CBs - Tom Lockyer and Peter Hartley.
CDMs - Chris Lines and Stuart Sinclair. LM - Cristian Montano. RM - Billy Bodin. CAM - Jermaine Easter. ST - Matty Taylor.
Subs bench: J. Clarke, M. McChrystal, O. Clarke, L. Mansell, B. Moore, E. Harrison, L. James.

4-2-3-1 looks good with those players. Though I have to admit I am a traditionalist and prefer 4-4-2. As does Sam Allardyce. Oops I mean Mike Bassett...

I wouldn't pick ellis or easter ahead of gaffney to start. Moore looked very effective and quick against mangotsfield. Albeit against mangotsfield but possibly a bit more a league one player than montano. Possibly 😊
