True, but surely the headline from the Higgs years and his part in ALL of this reads:- Builder Fails to Build StadiumHis tenure at the club was one massive failure on & off the pitch. Sorry, but this man deserves very little credit for what is happening now with professional people running the club. Considering the absolute mess the club was in I'm STILL shocked Wael even considered it never mind bought it. But like most of us - I'm sure glad he did !!! History will show NH employed DC as our manager! Amongst a few others. Darren Patterson Dave Penney Stuart Campbell Paul Buckle Mark McGhee John Ward

Darren Patterson Dave Penney Stuart Campbell Paul Buckle Mark McGhee John Ward Was chatting to a bloke called Doolittle, he said that a little birdy told him that Higgs had an argument with another director about Clarke, Higgs wanted to get rid, the other bloke didn't, Higgs spat his dummy and told the other director that if he wanted Clarke he could take care of first team affairs. But of course, that can't be true because Higgs was trying to take credit for the promotion a couple of weeks back.

Jelf is a major disappointment to me (unless the story to keep DC is true). At the Q&A before the start of the season he spoke very well and convincingly, he was sat close to DC and I thought he would get a grip and improve things. I do not remember seeing him at away games, indeed at Braintree Ken represented the directors. Now I do not know what went on behind the scenes, but I detected little involvement from him. But if he did save DC from NH's fickle finger of fate, in that one act he turned the team around - a veritable hero.

I have no great love for Higgs and co for the way they treated the rank and file fans maybe we should all remember that without them and people like Dennis Dunsford and Ron Craig we wouldn't have our club not just financially but the time and effort they put in quite possibly at the detriment other their other business interests and I know for a fact that on more than one occasion Chris Jeff lent the club considerable sums of money

Jelf, Ware, Higgs, King, even Masters and Seymour-Smith for standing by and watching it happen, shame on them all.

A nice park leading up to the stadium would be nice. Could call it UWE Green ... I suppose opportunity knocks for some people to double their money. Surely we can give it a better "Monica"! ps sorry Gas since 1957 just seen your Monica reference. Been on holiday and back after long flight and can't sleep!! Didn't read all thread before posting.

They were, at the very least, the least-worst options?

To be fair to Higgs he did plan the Uwe in secret for years and it wasn't his thought that shopping trends changed and that it was held up for years by trash.
He made many mistakes, however, we wouldn't have been taken over by Wael if it wasn't for the planning permission at Uwe, Wael and Hamer have both said that. So give credit where it's due, if we do get the stadium, he played a big role in making this happen.

What secret was that?- plans for a stadium were in the South Glos plans which were published before UWE approached BRFC. NH happened to be Chairman of BRFC when they came calling

Time to move on, learn, but move on. Hope we get a stadium where majority of stadium revenues accrue to the club. Then lets see what happens

So give credit where it's due, if we do get the stadium, he played a big role in making this happen. That stadium should be nearing completion, we should be ready to take delivery of it, debt free and all of the associated income streams. Credit the bloke for that! It's not as if the thing that tripped us up with Sainsbury's was a condition written on a microdot, hidden in a locked filing cabinet in a cellar, with a blown light bulb and guarded by a tiger, it was a clearly worded requirement that anybody could understand, and he agreed to it. He was a total disaster. The sooner people stop trying to rewrite history to somehow give him credit for an idea that he never had and stop making excuses for the monumental mess he made of UWE and of running Rovers the sooner we can move on.

When it gets built, the Higgs sycophants still won't be happy, they'll try to find something to prove that UWE was his idea in the first place so that they can credit him for it, but they'll come up empty handed. Just read this thread right through and feel that it must be better to be a Higgs sycophant than someone who is filled with unnecessary hatred for one person.

I didn't know about Doolittle and the little birdy until now. Obviously that proves the matter.
