That read like one great preamble followed by absolutely nothing.

Sorry if you expected more, I was asked to write about his first 100 days. I can hardly speculate on what will happen over the next few months, other than to say it will be interesting to see how he does react. I do think it's a shame DC wasn't offered a contract earlier, though. The excuse seemed to be that they didn't want to distract him from the task in hand, but Oxford gave Michael Appleton a new deal and it didn't appear to do any harm. Now we face the possibility losing the manager for next to nothing

He seemed pretty focused on the next game, and only the next game, in every single interview I heard. Post match he said he was exhausted and had told the chairman he really needed a holiday. Would we have thanked Wael for pushing him into contract talks? Easy to say now perhaps that he should have done, but then we might not be facing such a relaxing weekend right now.

Furthermore, and you're good at this sort of thing, Anne, was there any mention, by anyone, about the apparently obvious and scandalous schoolboy error of not already having given him an improved contract before the Leeds story came out? People aren't being a bit censoriously wise after the event, here, are they? PS: Sorry if I'm misinterpreting any part of the article or discussion. I'm usually reluctant to go on the dreadful Post site with it's overload of pop-ups and ads; on this occasion I braved it, but wasn't allowed to view beyond the first two lines unless I completed a survey, so they can shove that and I haven't read it.

Yep, been saying it for ages. It was obvious he was going to be a top manager half way through the conference season and when I suggested a new contract on here I was asked if I was DCs agent or a family member!! Would be gutted to see him go as he is such a good manager who would take us even higher. It took 25 years to replace Gerry Francis and we even tried replacing Gerry Francis with Gerry Francis at one time and that didn't work. We should fight hard to keep him but sadly if he wants to leave than so be it. Darrell has worked miracles here in such a short space of time and he's given us so many good memories. Hope theres more to come!!

Not that I condone the stupid Post pop ups but there is a tick box that just says ignore the survey or something, then the whole article comes up... I haven't gone into the DC situation in the piece anyway it is just an opinion I had. In my view he could have been offered a contract around Xmas time but I suspect Nick Higgs didn't know if they would have any money

I haven't gone into the DC situation in the piece anyway it is just an opinion I had. In my view he could have been offered a contract around Xmas time but I suspect Nick Higgs didn't know if they would have any money I did devote a couple of seconds looking for a way to by-pass it but couldn't find it, so my aversion to the Post website kicked in. I agree with the financial uncertainty stalling everything before February - see also player contract talks being suspended in January - but in DC's case it wan't as if his contract was going to expire, and I think an indication that the issue would be addressed come the close season (whenever that would start) would have shown intent. To be honest, if he's prepared to go to Cellino (if) I don't think it will be on grounds of wanting to feel more cherished by the board, or that cash would be the prime determinant, or a longer term contract already in place would prevent it. Irish put it well on another thread.

You must have to write quick this week (DC signed within hours of publication).
Al Qadi & Hamer's business is going perfectly so far. 1. Absolve BRFC of Wongadministraion. Tick. 2. Exctracate the club from embarrasing and expensive litigation. Tick. 3. Leave DC alone to try to get another promotion. Tick. 4. Offer DC all he's worth and convince him to sign. Tick.
5. Sign the existing and new players DC needs for the 3rd Division. 6. Youth development, training ground, stadium, etc.

There is little more as irritating at some so called Rovers fans who have sat back and allowed the previous chairman to run the club into the ground without challenge, and then nit pick at every opportunity to discredit the best thing that has happened to the club in its history.
