Down with this sort of thing.
How about they borrow an idea from Cricket - 20/20 football. That'll reduce stress on players. 20 minutes a half - powerplays for the first 5 minutes of each in which the game is played 8 v 8, goals could be renamed 'Coca Cola Life Moments' etc.

I don't agree with any of you posting here, I think this favors the likes of Rovers, we have a much better chance of beating premier league opposition over one game, regardless whether it was home or away, and then extra time and penalties than we would with a replay. Last time out we were pretty damn hot at penalties.

Not FA Cup related... Why still have a 2 leg league cup semi final if they want to play less? Makes no sense as all other ties are just a single match. Last 4 in the league cup are usually premier league clubs so it just shows its not about playing less but generating extra cash from an extra game.

For me. the cup lost any integrity with the advent of semi finals at Wembley. The entire ethos and pay off was ALL about getting to the final, at Wembley. I know I am now 52 and am rapidly becoming that old fart that I used to always grumble about but the cup lost its magic for me

Of course once they had done it once, it made it far easier to do it all the time when they needed to make more money from Wembley. I agree with KP, it was the start of a slippery slope.

Arsenal v Spurs (1991 and 1993), Sheffield derby (1993).
I'm fairly sure if Old Trafford had been as big then as it is now then it would've hosted the Sheffield game.
I don't think it was intended as a precedent, it was the result of specific fixtures and logical to have it there.
Routine semi finals at Wembley is absolutely s**t though, and wholly unnecessary.
