I am really looking forward to next seasons away games, there are some grounds that I haven't been to before and others that have been totally rebuilt,Charlton,Bradford,Sheff Utd etc.
Bramall Lane looks brilliant in the pictures online,it was a nice ground when I went in 78 / 79,Rovers lost and Alex Sabella played for Utd that day, does anyone remember if he scored ? I think that he might have done, but I cant find any online site that list the scorer.

Accordng to Rothamns Foortball Yearbook, Rovers lost 1-0 at Sheffield United on31/3/79. It confirms that Alex Sabella played, but the goal was scored by Peter Anderson.

I know a Man City fan who went to lots of games in the North during the late 60s and 70s when football matches had more atmosphere than now,and he said that Bramall Lane was the noisiest ground that he went to. I think it was possibly the best ground that I went to in the 70s.

Thanks for finding that,I knew he played, I think they got relegated at the end of that season to the 3rd division it was a bit surprising as they were a well supported club.

Finished my career at Bramall lane as a linesman in 1992. Leeds won 3-2.Early K.O. and with Liverpool stuffing Man U later that day this was the first Div match which decided that Leeds won the crown.(actually had an SOS the following Sat to say quick get to Stockport, a linesman is unwell, but sounds better to say you finished on the first div championship decider)

Yes, Sheffield United were relegated that season. Rovers finished in a relatively comfortable 16th, one place below Wrexham, but one place ahead of Leicester. How times have changed.

I've only been there the once, must have been late 80s/early 90s, we got dicked 4-1 or 4-0. It was early on in the season and as I recall the atmosphere was pretty lame, big old ground, with not many people in it.

I saw that match too..second game of the season 3 Sept 1988....lost 4-1 9,587...Holloway scored for us...second biggest gate Rovers played only beaten by that memorable 1-0 win at Wolves ...Dennis Bailey scored 20,913 at Molineux that day.
