Hands up everyone who is surprised by what happened last night? West Ham have always had more than their fair share of violent meat heads following them. Have never understood the media obsession with promoting them as lovable Cockerney, salt-of-the-earth football good guys.
As for the stadium, I don't remember this amount of fuss for Maine Rd, Highbury, Ayresome Pk, Roker Pk, St Mary's etc. So much for the Olympic legacy and community benefits, it turns out that the tax payer has to subsidise a privately owned football club to prevent the stadium falling into disrepair. Nice one Seb.
Edit.
St Marys = The Dell of course.

Nice one Seb. Completely agree - I find the media's love in with West Ham vomit inducing at times. Loveable East End Cockney's that won the world cup, butter wouldn't melt in their mouth etc. No particular issue with West Ham themselves but the bollocks that is talked about them in cringeworthy at times. They get far more coverage than their history and status in the football world really deserves. Jonathan Pearce is the A1 offender - I find his attitude towards West Ham 10 times more annoying and objectionable than anything he's ever said about City.

You would have an issue with West Ham if you had spent any time on match days in their neck of the woods and your accent was anything other than local. It's worse than Millwall. It's like the land that time forgot, it's still 1977 around Barking Road. Why should opposition teams have to arrive 4 hours before kick off to avoid being attacked by home supporters? No issue with the club as such, but some of the very worst supporters you'll find anywhere. And what's all this Boleyn Ground stuff? OK, that's it's name, but it's been Upton Park for as long as I can remember, until someone decides that doesn't sound like it's got quite the right amount of history attached to it.

Not to defend any of the actions, but it isn't the first time Man U have been late. how do they plan their journeys.
Imagine a scenario we had already been promoted the other week and the away team coach was trying to get up Glos Rd for example?
I think Man planned poorly given the occasion, but the actions of a few were disgusting and spoilt what was a positive week for them with The Olympic stadium news and all those STs sold

I too found this odd. As you say, it always has been the Boleyn Ground but was never referred to that., but by the district the ground was in i.e. Upton Park.
I wonder how many of our younger fans know the real name of our stadium at Eastville?

Bristol Stadium? West Ham's ground has always been the Boleyn Ground, and as far as I know that's what West Ham fans usually call it, its everyone else that calls it Upton Park because that's where it is.

Talking of football ground names, isn't it sad how all the new stadiums are known primarily by their sponsor names?
How can any fan get excited about or feel pride in saying they play at the Etihad or the Emirates? Give me Old Trafford or Anfield any day.

But those names only mean anything cos they've been used for a hundred years. They only actually represent the areas they're in, after all. So the UWE would have to be called Stoke Gifford; or Abbeywood perhaps? 100 years from now it'll be steeped in history and tradition and the scene of many famous European nights, but for the first few years it would sound a bit s**t.

The Brown-Win Ground has a ring to it

The Brother in law is a West Ham supporter, no idea why, he's from north of London, but he's followed them as long as I've known him, that goes back to the mid-1970s, he's always called it Upton Pk.
