According to the BBC we will have an opportunity to match any offer MT gets. I would hope that he would show a little bit of loyalty to the club that gave him his chance by signing a contract that had a release clause so that we didn't lose out. I know that he has to look after himself with regards to wages etc. Am I wrong in feeling this way

Feel how you like, he's put in two brilliant seasons in return for a fairly paltry wage and at 26 needs to maximise what's available to him at this stage of his career. He owes us nothing and the fact he's giving us last shout is honourable.

as astafjevs says, he owes us nothing, but he has helped us out of obscurity and to the verge of being where 2 years ago we could only have dreamt about given the state of and direction the club was heading

With a bit of luck, by this time tomorrow he'll be looking forward to another season working with Marcus and testing himself against L1 defences

Lambert owed us nothing and still signed a contract to ensure we got a profit on him.
His ratio is 1:2 goals so to see him go for free would leave a sour taste in the mouth.

With all the value behind our owners' then it's not the same circumstance as perhaps Agogo and Lambert's contractual renewal. Personally, I think the guy has showed all doubters, myself included, with a fantastic season and the club have received a greater return of investment for the contract he signed.
What a great story for Matt and I hope he continues his upward path wherever he ends up.

If I was him at 26 with a limited career duration- I'd be taking the biggest offer I was given. We owe him everything, he's been fantastic over the past few seasons, proving people wrong. So if he leaves, good luck to him. Fingers crossed he will stay though, money isn't everything after all.
Would imagine that he would be able to get £5k a week somewhere based on this season? 3 year contract maybe... Circa £750,000k gross.

He isnt 19,20,21 and has spent his career in non league on relative peanuts. He has done fantastic for us and he owes it to himself and any family to do whats right for him. If he scores today, we go up and he leaves. Thank You Matty

Thank You Matty And I think based on what Hamer said on rad bris the other night, we won't match silly money offers, rightly so as it can cause unrest in the squad. I think when lambo was on good money here last time, he was a talisman, and the whole squad and club knew he was the main man. I don't get that impression with Taylor. I fully expect him to leave- regardless of what league we are in. Even more reason to enjoy his perfect hattrick this afternoon!

WHAT a great little player he has become - some sublime goals, great first touch and a joy to see him shoot and finish with either foot - a rarity in today's game !!
Hope you are fit today Matty and you grab us another important goal !!
