Best Wishes to you Gasheads, I genuinely hope you come straight back up this season - I have always liked BR since the days we played you almost every season in the late seventies. You have fallen a long way but treat it as another challenge that you have to overcome again TOGETHER.
I used to dread the new season with the games against crappy teams at crappy grounds but have actually fallen back in love with the game again. These crappy teams aren't actually that bad at all and you will see some great club servants and supporters at all of them. At least these fans support THEIR team rather than some Premiers**te Sheik, Russian or American corp owned bankrupt "BRAND".
Be prepared for every one of these team to play 50% better against you than every other team. They will play against you in the same way that you would play against Liverpool. Five years we were down and it was only the last year that some of our miserable fans (me included probably) started to respect and even fear some of the teams and the desire they played with that we started to "get it".
Don't be like us for four years, Gasfans will have to appreciate a one-nil win against Nowheresville Utd and just be pleased for 3 big fat points. You will have to create atmosphere in games where there are 23 away fans one week and 44 the next. You will have to get behind everyone pulling on the shirt and not moan at them and destroy what confidence they may have (we were PARTICULARLY adept at crushing our players for the first four years!)
Get behind the team in every way possible and accept that at the beginning of each season every team is your equal. It's a long season so be patient ( We were 10 points behind the leaders at one point)
I hope the penny drops quickly with your fans and management and that the club really pulls together for the fight ahead - if you do it'll be just the one season hopefully - if you tear yourselves apart you'll help the opposition to make it two or more.
Good Luck !

Good Luck ! Cheers Hatter,we've had some suporters of other Conference clubs offering us good advice and luck. Thing is Rovers have more problems than just being '5th tier',we'll have to see how things unfold but thanks for the post and good luck back in the FL and I wouldn't be surprised if you challenge for a place in the third tier.

all good info. but as soon as "Nowheresville United"start winning against BRFC it sometimes becomes a big problem with some of the supporters ,those with no patience and the belief this team is invincible at this level, will be an interesting first 8 weeks of this campaign, as it will set the tone for the season i think

What a great post.
This is almost a prophecy, because it is very, very likely that we will do all the things he has warned us against.
I suggest this is pinned at the top of the forum to act as a reminder when needed.

nice words, our problem isnt the team, its the board we cant support I can support the board! At least they are supporters of Bristol Rovers, at least they attend matches, put their money in... Does anyone really think that recent failure has been deliberate? Whilst the board are in situ I will support them. To do otherwise is surely counter productive? I find it really strange that fans attack their own board with no viable alternative. The same fans attack one manager after the next and our own players and even the people who administer the website. I will support eveyone and anyone connected with BRFC. If someone is doing a bad job they should be encouraged to do better and supported in the effort to do better, not threatened, ridiculed, abused and mocked. Leave that to C**y fans!!

brilliant post.
it's hard to stay positive and united, but we must. it's the only chance we fans have. and it's great for the players as well.

I think a lot of people feel exactly the way you do and have supported the board through thin and thinner But maybe it's that unwavering and obedient support which has been counter productive ? If fans keep the board up to their task and speak out when they see lack of professionalism or contradiction and hypocrisy then maybe the board will be sparked into getting their act together. The vast majority of fans have tried doing what you suggest but the club and the team have just got worse.

Excellent post from someone who has been there and got the badge. Gasheads would do well to heed advice from fans like this

If someone is doing a bad job they should be encouraged to do better and supported in the effort to do better, not threatened, ridiculed, abused and mocked. Leave that to C**y fans!! I don't consider them supporters of Bristol Rovers. At least one of the current BoD started WW III to prevent a proper financial management regime being put in place because it would have threatened the way he had managed the club in to a permanant financial crisis to suit his own interests and categorically stated that the club would go under before it got rid of him. The current Chairman seems to consider 98% of Gasheads as beneath explaining anything to. The whole BoD voted to ban a fan just because he critisised them and then passed the blame around each other and refuse to simply give a good reason for his ban or lift it. They attend games because that's when they get to sit in Box 1 acting the big time charlies. The two 'Fans Directors' are a pair of useless carpetbaggers who collaborate with the BoD in return for getting to hang around with them and their z-list celebrity guests. Even if the rest of the BoD wanted to put a competant person in charge of the Club's finances, they couldn't because it's far more important that one of the Director's hopeless mates has a cushy number that he can coast along in. The whole BoD flatly refuse to behave in any way professionally in the governance of the Club. It's their private boys club and you are just there to keep the cash flow coming through the turnstiles. I don't attack one manager after another precisely because I know exactly where Rovers problem lies, in Box 1. As for your last sentence, I couldn't agree more. You might want to suggest that NH takes this advice in future instead of using one manager after another as s**t screens for his own incompetance.
