That is very good news. Much better than a signing. Will give a big sign of intent and will encourage others who are thinking about greener grass elsewhere! It makes us a much more attractive option when looking at signings in the Summer. Well done Tom. UTG!

Great stuff. I wouldnt be suprised if he still went in the summer but at least this in theory would sucure a decent fee

Good work by DC to get him signed up before the summer though and also a good test of our new owners and their resolve. A £200,000 bid would have got him under the previous regime no doubt, but this more professional outfit probably can see the true value in a talent like Tom and hold out for a proper offer. It's not like we need to sell to keep the club afloat any more.

Re need to sell, we do not know that, we know nothing about how debts will be cleared and how the new ground is financed etc etc. My comments are not pro previous board or anti new board, I just get miffed reading these generalised posts. I'm sure the new board is more professional but with age comes caution, I believe it when I see it.

Great positivity. I'm never one to count chickens and as I've said ...one match at a time. But in Summer 2014 when it was just black and negative I'm sure I remember the official website having pages about car boot sales and stuff that made us look non league. I thought then what have we come to! (Not that there's anything wrong with car boot sales....!) Now, whatever happens in next 5 matches, it will be positive and I just think what a difference it could have been. Thank you Lee M for your nerve! UTG!

I've said several times now, that I'm not overly concerned how this season ends up. I'd love to see us promoted of course I would, but preferably automatically and not through the agonies of the play-offs, if that could be arranged. But what really does excite me is the close-season, because at that time we should be able to see how the new owners intend to progress the club. If we achieve League One status what new additions will there be to keep us there, and hopefully kick-on. And if we are still in League Two, what measures will be taken to make us more successful next term. And the stadium too, don't forget the stadium. There must be some really positive news not too far away now, surely? Of course with the new contracts being awarded to Tom Lockyer and Lee Brown (and hopefully more to come) we already do have an answer in part to my question, and we are still not in the summer break yet. Good 'ere 'ennit?

As you say Brizzle exciting times whatever happens in next 5 matches. Have always thought the biggest problem for the new owners would be managing the fans expectations. Looking forwards to the next few months whatever. UTG!

Loads of goals, loads of wins, some really good football, and a manager and bunch of players that I can relate to and really get behind.

Tom signing a new contract is fantastic and I think its also a huge sign of the clubs support of DC and intentions for the future. There must have been offers for Tom, he has been majestic all season.

I'd like to say a big well done to DC and the BOD for making the best signing we'll make all summer on the 15th April.
Tom talks about wanting to be the first name on the team sheet, but lets face it he was last season; when he was always in the team regardless of whether it was FB, CB or midfield. This season he's gone one better in that he's seldom (if at all) been shunted from CB and I think it would take an absolute emergency for him to be; which is a compliment to how good he is at CB, rather than me saying he couldn't do a job elsewhere.
I might be giving too much credit to someone I've never met, but he strikes me as a down to earth lad who will move when it is right for him rather than the pound signs. Regardless of what division we're in, another 50 games (which barring injury he will definitely get) is what he needs; not moving somewhere else and being in and out of the team/played in different positions/played in development games.
Even if either/both Macca and Mansell are here next season I can see their playing roles being greatly reduced so I fully expect him to be our regular 'on the pitch captain' even if one of the afore mentioned remain club captain.

Keep it up Henbury. Higgs said that he wasn't able to find out when we would be paid or how much Rovers would get when Rickie moved to Anfield. Sounds like we had that all tied up just about as 'water tight' as another contract he was involved with.

Fantastic news, odd time of the year to be renewing contracts but very happy with this news and Lee Brown's, hope there are a few more before the seasons end.

Would be great to get a chant going round the ground for Tom the same as Forest fans used to sing about Des Walker ? "You'll never beat Tom Lockyer !"
