Going down? You must have missed us winning a 6 pointer away from home. Kaiser - fair play to you for coming on to defend city. No piss taking or winding you up, honest answer from you required; are you pleased with the recruitment of Lee Johnson as your Head Coach?

I think he has the potential to be as good or as bad as any appointment that they could have made. Paul Trollope was an unpopular choice when he was appointed and he turned out to be one of the most successful coaches in Rovers history.

Well there will either be a good few cases of obesity in BS3 as they all eat massive slices of humble pie if he is successful or an awful lot of hot air as they all shout "Told you so" if he isn't.

Going down? You must have missed us winning a 6 pointer away from home. Well done, you've won against one of the other teams that will be going down, and needed a penalty to achieve that. Your irresistible march towards global domination is back on track.

Had a massive post written out but accidently closed the window. Devestating.
Anyway, what I garner when I get into conversations with the two or three friends I have that are more than day-tripping city fans is that there's a feeling that the Lord of Guernsey is less willing to splash the same cash on recruitment as he is on infastucture/AG 2.0/aquiring Badminton teams. Examples being Colchester describing their offer for Alex Gilbey as a joke. For whatever reason city aren't an attractive prospect for a lot of players. You'd have thought it would've been a good move for Dack for example but he didn't fancy it and the list is long of players who've decided the same.
Johnson might turn out good, he (eventually) got things moving in the right direction at Barnsley but the question that keeps coming back to me is if you wanted someone who knew how to turn things around at that level, you had Cotterill. It does just strike me as an inexpensive punt at this point. For the record I've always believed they'd stay up this season regardless of who's in charge, too many worse teams in the Championship but a three-and-a-half year contract for a manager who's been capable but not outstanding at league one level? Where does this fit into the plan for eventual premier league? It feels like a bit of a capitulation to some people I think. What I said to my mates was that I agreed with that but then Darrell Clarke was only proven to be outstanding at Southern prem/conf south level. Interesting times in Bristol football.

On Geoff Twentyman at 6pm, Lee will be joining Geoff. Wonder if all the comments coming in will be sucking up to him. Will any of them be brave enough to say how they really feel that they are not happy with him being the new head coach.

Cotterill was proven at league one, probably more so than Johnson. A great appointment for Barnsley!!!

Not really no and if nobody asks Lansdown at Nottingham why we haven't been more ambitious then I will. However I'll give him my support in the job right now and not write him off.

Will look forward to your report following your conversation. Must say, most of my city mates are devastated -

Ringing endorsement from a Barnsley fan.... Hi Everyone, Barnsley fan here. Just thought I'd let you know what to expect from your new Head Coach: Loans loans & more loans- When he 1st came to Oakwell he made 4 or 5 loan signings which most agreed were necessary. Then in the summer he went and got 7 short term loan signings BEFORE the season had even started which started off a never-ending revolving door of mediocre loan signings up until his departure. Boring & baffling tactics- Throughout most of his time here he played 1 up top while instructing the midfield & defence to run and pass it around like crabs. A lot of his substitutions were head scratchers too. Favouritism- No matter how bad or out of form a player is he will just keep persisting & persisting with them if he's mates with them or he signed them. Fantastic convincing talks & interviews- Don't be fooled by his words! Good crowd- Always claps the fans and waves when requested. Just over a month ago he had led us to the rock bottom of League 1 after the worst run since 1955. Without the signing of Hammill we would probably still be there. Like many of our fans I am not bitter but relieved he is finally gone. He would have been sacked in about October if we didn't have to pay him 500k in compo. I am amazed that any club would want him to be honest. Oldham fans warned us and now I'm warning you. Lee Johnson is a tactically inept ship jumper who can talk himself out of anything. Good luck this season. You're going to need it. This is like Paul Buckle for s**theads. I remember the Torquay fans sending us warnings just like this outlining how Buckle got a bit lucky with his minimal achievements to that point and how he was actually a useless twat. I still remember how we laughed at them and called them bitter at the time. Just trying to remember how that all worked out for us. Hard not to hope that history doesn't repeat itself in this case!

Hahaha Cyril Sneer just treats his football club as a vehicle to give jobs to his family and friends. Brilliant.

Listening to the radio yesterday, they said Little Lee's going to be looking at the whole footballing side of the club from top to bottom. I was trying to remember which of our recent managers was tasked with doing the same here - whoever it was, I don't think it turned out too well. Fingers crossed the same goes for them down the road.

I have a soft spot for both the Latics (worked nearby) and the Tykes and most of their fans are a genuine bunch so if they think this there must be a grain of truth at least. AND most importantly remember how we brushed off the warnings of Gulls fans over Buckle. They were spot on.

I bet Loopy Lee is kicking himself that he didn't hang on at Barnsley a few days longer. He could have taken over at Rotherham and not had to move house. Looks like the Millers might be getting Warnock. Wasn't he favourite for the Teds job after they couldn't get Guardiola, Mourinho, Moyes, Pearson and Pearce?

Looks like I'm in the minority here but I hope this thread dies soon. Lee Johnson.....so what. Forums are always about opinions I know but I always laugh at OTIB being obsessed with us despite everything. I wouldn't like this thread to get too many pages and let them know they are even on our radar, sod 'em. I presume for those who live in Bristol and surrounds it's more of an issue than for us who don't have to put up with their opinions day by day. Whatever UTG!

I suspect it will die a death pretty quickly if he does well. So personally I hope it runs all season ...
