Utd are now no longer the top team in Manchester. Poor old ZFC will be a twitching wreck crouched down in the corner of a darkened room BBC saying that his wages will be half a million quid a week. How is this happening with FFP rules? Unless Utd and Arsenal up their game the PL will be a pointless exercise.

We're in a mad world really. Man City are in with a not ridiculous shout of winning a treble this year yet they have replaced their manager....Bayern did something very similar when they bought Guardiola in. Success doesn't seem enough anymore for the very top clubs - it has to be about style as well.

Style isn't a word I would associate with Jose, either as a person or the football his teams play, but as long as he was winning his financial backer seemed happy enough. How can City possibly be operating within FFP rules?

The point you make there, about style, is one of the reasons that the management at Bayern are not too unhappy to see Guardiola leave. Under Heynckes, that had just that. Pace, power, elegance. They were a formidable team. They still are formidable to a degree, but now they are the most boring team in Germany to watch. Tik Tac football doesn't go down well with German fans, as I don't think it will with British fans. Last season they won a game 2-0, and during the game they completed over 1,000 passes. It was probably one of the most boring 90 minutes you'll ever see. Not only that, but Guardiola has only won the Budesliga twice, and the German Cup once in his two years. He didn't reach the final of the Champions League. In reality, that is an underachievement for a club like Bayern.

They have spent pretty damn close to a billion quid on transfer fees alone. No point in having FFP unless it's fit for purpose.

At least the FL seem to be trying to act tough on the Championship clubs especially.
Anyway Man City circumnavigate it by massive sponsorships from Emirates, Etihad etc

German and English football fans normally prefer the ball moved more quickly into attacking areas. It's interesting - the ultimate description of an exciting game in English football is 'end-to-end', I'm not sure the same applies in Italy and Spain where posession is king. 'End to End' implies being willing to risk possesion and team shape in order to get forward in numbers as quickly as possible. Tiki-Tacca is popular because it combines posession with that quick movement but I think it's quite hard for most teams to do that especially in German and English Leagues where the high press is king. When I watch Spanish games where sides stand off Barca and Real I think 'why aren't you pushing up the pitch' but I'm sure there are good reasons not to. I don't like it personally because I think the most exciting aspect of football is pace outwide and Tik-Tac focuses on threading through the middle rather than getting it quickly to the wide men. For sheer excitement the best side I ever saw was Ferguson's United side with Giggs and Ronaldo as the wide players and I grew up hating United. Bamber-I'm not sure you're quite right about Jose. Wasn't it strongly implied that Abramovitch kicked him out first time around because he wanted his team to play a more expansive style of football and at Real Madrid he was in a constant war with the Perez (and fans to an extent) who wanted him to use the star signings to play more attacking adventurous football. Also, come one, say what you like about the guy but a lack of style is not something that can be laid at his door. He pretty much invented the concept of manager as style icon (scarves, coats, hobo sheek was practically his invention!). Haven't we all agreed FFP is basically a joke....

As for attire, Big Ron was dressing all funny whilst Mourinho was still in nappies. And who could forget Malcolm Allison's hat

Though I think Paul Tisdale probably has the current crown in retrospect....
