Manchester City away. Was it really that long ago! I remember Goater getting the worst Sheed abuse I can remember. The roar when he was subbed off was superb. Didnt Gareth Taylor come on as sub??

I think I may have been to every fixture between the two clubs, and our record is pretty impressive, two away games with no goals conceded, and only one defeat !
I would imagine our record against United is also pretty good. There was the win at Old Trafford in 72 (?), the 4-0 win, and the draw and defeat when they got relegated in the mid 70s, I don't know of any other games between the clubs, although I stand to be corrected.

However, Rex, I take your point. Our record against United is more impressive than our record against many less exalted opponents!

I believe the only other game between Man City and Rovers was a friendly around 1906. I don't know the score. It is mentioned in one of the programmes. There was another FA Cup tie at Old Trafford in 1964. We lost 4-1. Denis Law got a hat trick.

A Manc friend of mine through business got me a couple of VIP tickets for the Kippax that day, we arrived early and had a few Ciders in pubs around Moss Side which was interesting!. I remember the height of the Kippax and going in a lift to get up to the VIP level, Gasheads in good voice that day, got told to ''shut up'' a few times myself!...

Living in Manchester in 1992, I went to the League Cup game at Marine Road. Another 0-0. Next day at work, my mates were angry about the IRA chant. Perplexed, I finally placated them by explaining it was Irene. Dopey Mancs.
