Apparently Darrell Clarke isn't happy with his shot stopping, so Nicholls will be leaving the club when his loan expires next month, with either Puddy or Mildenhall to take over keeping duties. Clarke has confirmed that he is still looking for a new number 1 though.
Source is the Q and A at the SC AGM this evening.

Well if that is the case I would expect him to be dropped straight away and Mildenhall given the spot.

JESUS! Every player is out of contract in the summer except Sinclair & Easter. None of the players have options on their contracts.

DC needs to get a new goalkeeper in as soon as Nicholls goes. I,m not happy with any of them.

Guess it's a slight improvement on the 3 year deal then!!

Wouldn't Nicholls be leaving the club anyway once his loan spell finishes, and given his recent form DC would be mad to re-sign?

Easter was given an 18 month deal in January 2015, his deal expires summer 2016, Sinclair the only player under contract for next season, and thank goodness we have a manager who has abolished those crazy contracts with a 1 year option, the Mildy situation has shown how that has bit the club on the arse big time, and how a top earner sitting out his contract is using up the budget. From what I've seen of Mildy, Nicholls & Chapman, i'm looking forward to seeing Will Puddy back who is better than all of them, and to this day has never cost us a goal from a mistake. The next 6 months will be interesting, with the likes of Harrison, Lockyer and Parkes out of contract, will they sign or will they go? There could be a few visits to the tribunal court to get fees out of other clubs if they refuse to sign any deals. Mansell is getting to an age where a smaller deal on less wages and squad role could be his only option, Ollie Clarke isn't forcing his way into the team to warrant a new deal, McChrystal will probably leave, Lee Brown might fancy a change of scenery, Leadbitter will be a wanted man, Matty Taylor will have championship clubs after him, Montano and Gosling lack quality. Major surgery on the squad could well be needed in the summer, together with off the field chaos, means mid-table stability this season would be a decent effort.

Or did he intend to throw the ball onto Modeste's foot so that it bounced straight into the net?

I usually find the same characters who think it was Puddy's fault are the ones who blame DC for our relegation, the ones who have the audacity to come out and say they like DC or they back him, after tearing shreds out of the bloke at every opportunity.

DC has said tonight that Easter has a contract for next season, considering DC presumably plays a pivotal role in agreeing contracts I'd trust that over a BBC article.
You clearly weren't at Barnet WCG (do you ever do away games) as Puddy was awful that night. He certainly wasn't 'assaulted' by Modeste but with the level of protection keepers are afforded these days he seemed unlucky not to get a freekick. He was a car crash for the first half at Wembley, but he certainly deserves a shot at league football (fitness pending). Barring the Barnet games/Wembley I don't think he was ever seriously under the cosh such was our dominance at that stage of the season, but he still made some decent saves where necessary and barring Dover did very well under the high ball for a man of his size.

Sure there was contact from the Dover player, and 9 times out of 10 a foul is given if you as much as make eye contact with a goalie, but he knows he should have held the ball. Next time you see him ask him, or Kitey, or Steve Book. I'm not looking to hang the bloke out to dry, just replying to the point where you said that he had never cost us a goal. I would like to see him given a few games at this level, like all the players who helped get us promoted, he's entitled to show what he can do in L2.

Puddy looked shaky in the Conference. Mistakes against Chester and in the PO final come to mind.
Nice bloke but I don't think any of the keepers on our books are the answer. Dc's biggest error was not sorting it out in the summer if he wanted a new GK.

I can only recall him coming out & getting lucky with a blatant handball. Other than that, the other 10 out there wearing Rovers shirts were a complete and utter shambles during the opening 30mins. But as we have seen very recently, that is always the goalkeepers fault....

Nerves got to him in the biggest game of his life. But he recovered, was fine for the rest of the game, and I'm sure will come out the stronger for the experience. He also didn't cost us a goal during that period.

Not just nerves, the pitch played slower than they all thought it would, hence long balls played that everyone thought would reach him held up on the pitch.
Cannot remember where I read/heard this but it was in post match interview of one of the players.

It wasn't a shot on target, it was a cross that he stopped from memory. It wasn't a cast-iron obvious goalscoring opportunity for me, so referee's call.
