Forgot to say that I was told on the journey home yesterday that we are approaching Chesterfield to sign Chapman again ? Anyone else heard similar news or different ?

I like DC, and I find his candidness refreshing when talking about most things. However, there are times- and this is a good example- when he really should be a little more discreet. I spoke with two persons on Saturday who were at the meeting, they were adamant that Darrell actually made no mention of Nicholls in person in his comment, so basically if anyone is criticising Darrell for making the personal comments about Nicholls according to the two persons I spoke with they are incorrect to do so. So that renders this thread mostly pointless as some people appear to be discussing a comment that wasn't actually made and the fact that Nicholls has played in the subsequent games since what the OP described as 'alledged comments' seems to confirm they weren't actually made I stand by my allegations of an alleged comment allegedly made at the Alleged General Meeting, and point out that its quite easy to talk about the current goalkeeper who is on loan from Wigan without mentioning him by name. Allegedly.

Yes. Didn't have much to do yesterday, but was efficient. Some were frustrated that he wasn't releasing Leadbitter or Brown, opting to slow things down and kick, but I sense that this may have been under instruction in the first half. To clarify, could someone that attended the BRSC Q&A confirm that htere was any criticism or whether DC was simply stating the fact that Nicholls loan spell comes to an end shortly. Or possibly due to the fact that each time the numpties in the North Terrace were moaning, Leadbitter and Browner were being covered by WWFC players....... And the one time he did throw to Leadbitter he bumbled it straight out

I've always been quite curious about how well (or badly) would Preston perform if he were to be given a single shot when Nicholls leaves.
I know it sounds crazy as hell and I agree, but I'm favoring a big "?" over Mildy who has already proven himself multiple times that it might be over.

Totally baffling this... if Nicholls has finished his loan spell and, I understand, cannot have it extended because it's been 3 months, Puddy is still way off fitness and has a new problem and Mildy has already been told he's not wanted, who is keeping goal for us between Dec 12 and New Year's Day? I don't imagine with Mildy on our books we are entitled to an emergency loan so it seems a bit bizarre that DC burnt his bridges with Mildy. Tbf he may not be what he was but he has still proved an exemplary professional and not thrown his toys out of the pram. Good thing, because it seems we may need him for some vital games coming up. Or is Preston ready? All DC's previous actions and comments - sending him out on loan etc - suggest not. I'm not a great fan of Nicholls but it could be a case of out of the firing pan into the fire..

I'm sure if Mildy gets the call up he will be the consummate professional he has been throughout his long career. He might not be quite as good as 5/6 years ago but he won't let us down.

Unfortunately the whole reason Mildy lost his place in the last third of the season and reaffirmed it during the preseason games was because he did let us down. I know you can't really tell from one preseason game but Preston played the whole of the match against Mangotsfield, made several good saves and looked very competent and confident in all he did.

Looks like we have got to look forward to Puddy returning between the sticks; ffs I have still not got over how IMO single handedly he so nearly managed to cost BRFC the play-off final, he was awful, and should have been sent off. Surely DC can find a better keeper than puddy ?

This has all been a bit strange. I am presuming that DC is going to see how Puddy does in reserve match tomorrow and if he goes well will pencil him in when LN goes back. That way he saves money on a loan and can use the money elsewhere. If others know more then me and are in the know about an offer having been made for a replacement fair enough but agree with lots who have said it is a strange situation after all dilemma has been there all season not just last month. Hope Puddy does well, comes in, does well and everyone's happy but... UTG!

There isn't a possibility of a replacement. Loan window is closed and we will have three fit keepers on our books. Puddy to January then play it from there I would imagine.

According to my one of my car sharing mates who was at the Q&A session, they got talking to DC at the end. Apparently we've got into this mess because of the advice of the medical staff we had at the time (they've since been shipped out) as DC was advised that Puddy's injury wasn't serious and that he would recover in time to make an early season start. Unfortunately because of that advice and other further incorrect medical advice received at the time meant that first DC went for a short term loan, (Chapman) but then subsequently was forced into a 93 day loan (Nicholls) to cover the error the medical staff gave him. Nicholls is only going back because his 93 day loan deal is up. There was a rumour circulating (in the car) that DC was trying to sign Chapman again on a longer deal.

I'm presuming that the medical staff also advised that Mildenhall would drink from the fountain of youth during the summer and come back as the goalie he used to be?

No, I think that is more Mildenhall had an option for another year and took it.
