judging by that only[ was not at the game],those criticising the keeper are just a tad harsh, first one deflected and left flat footed, second ,well just abysmall defending, guy hit it well and didn't have much of a chance will say that, that useless goalscorer took his goal very well

First was a scuffer but most certainly went straight in from my vantage point in the Centenary Stand.
Finish for the second looks better than I thought but the defending was still tragic.

First was most definitely not the keepers fault, Sinclair won't be happy with his part in it, and the second was really well struck. I'm neither anti or pro Nicholls, but he was getting some unjustified stick last night.

It's just getting a bit old with people jumping all over the keeper for every defeat. Taylor is the only striker doing the business in the entire squad & our shortcomings from central midfield is nothing short of tragic. Not to mention Mr Bodin being the only wide player who looks bothered. Gosling & Montano are doing really well of playing themselves out of a contract.
A fair few really need to roll sleeves up and start taking responsibility.

I'm neither anti or pro Nicholls, but he was getting some unjustified stick last night. He didn't get near either of them and he doesn't seem to get near anything that is hit from outside the box. What about Chesham? What about Crawley? What about Newport (twice) where he also threw the ball into his own net more or less for another goal?, and twice from outside the box again last night.
Is this guy really better than Mildenhall? If Clarke continues with Nicholls ahead of Mildenhall his judgement or honesty could be questioned as to why this is happening.
I agree however he isn't the only one to blame, we have seen some calamitous defending in recent weeks from others too.

There was absolutely no deflection on the first goal and the keeper looked to me like he'd judged it to be going wide, which suggests an error.
No fault for the second. The error was the ref's, as he had stopped the game for no reason the game should have restarted with a contested drop-ball. Having said that, booting it straight to the keeper was naive by Taylor. Crawley didn't have possession in our half when the game was stopped so could hardly have complained if he'd put it out for a goal kick. We'd already seen that Day had a monster kick and a monster to aim for up front.

Keeper unsighted for both goals by his own defenders positioning

I totally agree. There come's a time where you look beyond the players' continual mistakes and turn attention to who and why he's being picked. He should've been dropped after Newport County. The amount of stick Milds got in relation to his performance is completely disproportionate to Nicholls, it's nothing short of an outrage. We are out of cup competition due to his direct incompetence, and for me, if he's not dropped it's only a matter of time before points are, due to his keeping ability.

I'm not sure which is better? Looks to me like the keeper got his bearings all wrong for the first one and thought it was going wide. Second one he saw in plenty of time, but his attempt to stop the ball was almost comical. Will be more than disappointed if he plays for us again. I'm sure he's a lovely bloke and is kind to small animals and all that, but he's a liability in goal.

I'm not sure which is better? Really? Where did you watch the game from? Nicholls- or any other keeper for that matter- really didn't stand much chance. It was hit right across him and right into the corner, and all this with very little time to react to a very poor clearance. Had he stopped it, it would have been an absolutely world class save.

Diagonally in line with the player that shot on the side of the goal it went in, so I saw it all the way. Nicholls could have reached it (I reckon), and certainly should have tried. I think the shape he ended up in suggests he'd judged it to be going wide.

The bloke's still on his feet, didn't even dive, look at his reaction when the ball went in, he knows that he should have done better.

But it does seem to me that we have compromised ourselves by turfing out the Chesterfield goalie (who many seemed to think was a better stopper), presumably on the basis that we had to pay for his services, and irrespective of their ability.

We might not be paying money but his continued selection is costing us plenty.

I'll even stop off at Sainsbury's and grab some oranges for half time. Where do I meet up with the team coach on Saturday please?

It's the way of the world it seems to me.

Obviously football is all about opinions. In this case it just so happens that Bamber's and the Latvian's is wrong
