Hi Gasheads. Sorry to the mods for posting this here but I couldn't see a general chat board.
I know a lot of us live in or near Easton and Fishponds and I'm sure everyone's realized that it's f******g freezing outside.
There are still thousands of people fleeing ISIS in Syria and the surrounding countries that have ended up at the camp in Calais. No one knows how long they'll be there and it's only going to get colder.
I know not everyone on here will be in agreement about military intervention or what to do with our borders, I accept that and I won't be arguing with anyone. This is not about those things, this is about making sure innocent people, with young families don't freeze to death in the short term. Football stood with France when ISIS attacked them and I think we ought to stand with people fleeing the same attacks every day.
The Quran Academys in Fishponds and Easton are collecting scarves, hats, jackets (any warm clothing) tents, sleeping bags, tinned food etc which they're going to run over at the end of next week. I've spoken to Shaykh and he says there will be three vans so they're taking whatever they can collect and volunteers can come and collect stuff off you if you can't get down, just give them a buzz on the numbers on the poster. If there's anyone in Shire/Avonmouth/Severn Beach that wants to help, I can come grab stuff off you before Wednesday as I'll be making the trip then.
