It is easy to be melodramatic on nights like this, but this is the first time in our history that we have lost at home to a non-league side in the FA Cup....so this is as bad as it gets.
The fact of the matter is that we are dreadful at home and our record (see goals scored) proves it. We were dicked by the bottom of the table team last time out in the League and now this, losing to a team who are below Chippenham Town in the football pyramid. Consequently, we are the laughing-stock of the nation again.
Personally, I have no confidence in Clarke turning around this home form, given that it's already November and getting worse. We have 3 League home games (Carlisle, Stevenage and Wycombe) in the next 3-4 weeks and then a decision has to be taken on whether Clarke has the ability to generate home results in the FL. Before that, he needs an opportunity to boost his personnel up-front and Lines (our key player last season) has to come into the team with a directive to improve on what he's produced so far.
Mansell, Gosling, Bodin, Harrison.....not good enough IMO. We lack power up-front. Geoff Dunford was right tonight. Let's not sleep-walk again.
So it's not Clarke out, but this can not go on. Most of the support want to see you win at home and we have been awful so far.
BTW, I like Clarke a lot (like the vast majority of the support) and want him to succeed.

No it's not as bad as it gets. That was out first relegation to this division, and then the conference. This is a one off cup match, its just the reverse of getting to the quarters a few years back. Win our next league match and it will be are highest league position for a fair few years. Come on, positive please.

Agreed, "as bad as it gets" as a result.

This isn't even close to "as bad as it gets".

Feck me we lost a cup game. Yes we were poor but we are 14 points off the bottom two and three off the play offs.
I dont see us being in frefall just yet.
Can we be better, yes for sure, but we could be a hell of a lot worse. Its not like we dont create any chances

It is pretty embarrassing and all that but this is nowhere near Mansfield levels of low.
The cup is a way to make some unbudgeted income, which admittedly we could have done with, but not much more than that. The league is our bread and butter and despite our dire home record we are actually in a good league position.
There is a concern that if our away record dips we may find ourself in a bit of trouble but let's not panic just yet eh?
I am very interested in what Dunford has said on Twitter, can anyone enlighten me please?

And I am sure their keeper won't have a game like that again for some time to come.

And I am sure their keeper won't have a game like that again for some time to come. I don't think he did anything special. He made a lot of saves, but I think any keeper would have been furious if they'd let any of them in. And then there's our guy...

Strange season so far with the peaks and troughs. Won't lose any sleep over todays result but still scratching my head over how poor we've been at home, serious problems there.

Not at all. Every week we spent outside the Football League was worse than this. This is just an embarrassment the team needs to bounce back from. 12 points in the next 5 games and we'll forget all about this result.

I wish I was as easily pleased as you.

They made more mistakes than he did and didn't save a penalty either.

I'd stick with the ten and put Mildenhall back.

I wish I was as easily pleased as you. I never said I was happy. But we are a team that a third of the season gone is around the playoffs and if we find some conistency or regular goals then we have a chance of being in the mix at the end of the season. As I say we can be better, but we could be a lot worse and we have been before

Non league teams have been beating teams far better than us in the cup since the beginning of time, its not nice to be on the receiving end but we'll get over it. Our biggest low was dropping out of the league, that hurt, this is just mildly embarrassing

Of course it's embarassing, but if we lost at home in the cup to 'The Retainers 2nds' from the Downs League, it still wouldn't come close to dropping out the league.

Have to say it again...
(last season) Man, I'd give my right bollock to be in first round proper of fa cup without qualifying and lose.
Got my wish.
Wouldn't swap it for alternative of not qualifying automatically for first round proper of fa cup!
What s**t I put up with tomorrow is nothing to the year of s**t I put up with already..
