I read this thread at 2am on my phone while I was pissed. This morning I assumed I must have imagined it. Hmm.

Don't ever remember seeing them lose, including those days when in top division, so no won't watch them.

Second thoughts about replying. I'll just conclude Chewy was mis-firing or had had his account hacked for that one.

A Rovers player posted a photo on social media of himself blacked up. No outrage though, because it's not as bad as watching City apparently.

I think one is a minor error of judgement that led to an overreaction, and the other one is someone who obviously didn't cringe like the rest of us when he watched "It was OK in the 1970's"......
I think the fact that he looks so sad and ridiculous pretty much sums it up. Its certainly a blow to his 'Captain Fantastic' image.
But, at the same time, to be honest, I'm more concerned about 2 separate people in the Blackthorn trying to start the "I'd rather be a paki than a taff" chant in the Blackthorn against Newport 2 weeks ago. And the fact that the fans (including me) and the stewards seemed to do their best to pretend it never happened.
Last year at a NF meet/ Blood and Honour gig in Wales, they burnt a gollywog on stage.
There is a fascist party in Britain (Britain First) with over a million followers on Facebook, that openly incites a civil war in Britain between muslims and christians (not sure where jews, hindus and aetheists fit in but history's tale is it usually doesn't end well).
So, we need to keep things in proportion. I don't believe that Mansell is a racist, I believe he tried to play a joke on a mate and by doing so, made himself a laughing stock.

Sad to say but I know of a lot of outright racist Rovers fans, EDL, Britain first, & more. I had to warn one of them about using the Pa*i shout, at an opposition player and we had an Asian guy just in front of us too. I apologised even though I didn't do it but the damage is done and I've not seen the lad back since that. It's sad but it won't stop until we act.

Just as well I was away in Cyprus for that game as I certainly wouldn't have ignored it if I was anywhere near it. Not only is it an insult to people of Asian or Welsh ancestry or have family that are, we also have Welsh players in our team for goodness sake

I'm surprised that we're allowed to use the word golliwog on here anymore, surely it was banned a while ago? 'Tis shameful, particularly in a city like Bristol with our history an' all.

I'd assumed this was a rhetorical question with an eye to satirising some people's obsession and a (unusually for you) poor choice of comparator. Social media are odd, both in how people see fit to behave on them, and how others adopt this mob tendency of false outrage and assume the need to comment. It was described recently as 'please notice me' syndrome (although in this instance it was a third party, not Ellis, who had it). Hopefully we'll develop some etiquette and perspective as it beds in, and cringe when we look back on this sort of thing in a decade or two. maybe best we all stop eavesdropping on people, or drop the judgementalism, until that happens.

I have no idea what is going on in this thread ! (probably not for the first time!).
Suffice to say, I would rather try anything, do anything, be anywhere than watch S*heads. Unless its v Gas.
So, if Ellis wants to watch his mates with that shower of sh*t, that's up to him, you, them.... but never us. As I'm not part of that collective!
Blox to them..

The Welsh are not a race. Mostly they are white uk, as per on official forms. And Wales is not a country, it is a Principality, a bit like Monaco, but that is where the comparison ends

How are white UK people racially different to white Germans? How is the UK anything other than a political entity? What is a country? And Wales hasn't been a principality for nearly 500 years. Try again.
