Dings for me, and I know Countygroundhotel follows the lot who kindly donated their mascot to us for safekeeping, but is anyone else here involved with or follow a local side?

Up to about the age of 9 I lived in Bristol and went to the Mem regularly. Moving to Wales I watched teams like Tenby and Whitland, then moving to Newport went to watch the Black and Ambers at Rodney Parade but Boxing Day they traditionally played Bristol so supported the team of my birth on that day . I then moved to Cwmbran and worked a lot in Abergavenny, a lot of the men supported Ebbw Vale (pre regional days) so for many years attended and stood on the Bank at Eugene Cross, Ebbw Vale, you had to be tough to put up with the weather on the huge open terrace. The WRU then formed the Regions but lost the support of the local people including me and many others. To get my rugby fix I went to Gloucester a few times but gradually started attending the occasional game back at the Mem. I became a season ticket holder at Bristol for a few years at the Mem but haven't seen them play (other than on TV) or stepped foot in Trashton since they moved there and nor will I. So that's Ashton Gate and Sainsbury's I won't be visiting.....ever

I have a weird relationship with Rugby. I have a few relatives who played for Wales and therefore they are probably my first and most passionate sporting allegiance because it is strongly connected to a proper communal family experience where everyone got together to watch the Rugby from Great Aunts to 2 year olds. From there I developed a great love of international Rugby - I rarely miss any international game. But for some reason that never made the transition to club Rugby in which I have very little interest. It is a bit odd - but because I'm distanced from it I find it difficult to appreciate. To me, as a detached observer, it just seems like a watered down version of the game which is patently very unfair. I just never developed an organic attachment to a team - I occasionally watch the European games and enjoy those but not with any great allegiance. I enjoyed watching those great Munster teams but I wouldn't say I supported them - I just appreciated a good team playing well and the atmosphere in Limerick seemed electric. I feel a bit bad about it to be honest. A friend of mine in Manchester asked me to go and watch Sale so maybe I'll give that a go but I think I might be past the age of developing a proper allegiance.
