Jake has just come on as substitute. Odd though that one of very few full time professionals in the squad he's put on the bench.....

Former Rovers snuff-fiend Rogvi Baldvinsson is on the bench against Northern Ireland. The Faries are down to 10 men, and its 1-1.

Good to see Poland rising above the worst corruption that nearly cost the country its ability to even take part in any FIFA games. Polska GORA !!

You do wonder what Gosling gains personally from playing for Gibraltar, apart from international appearances, as it must be fairly depressing knowing your going to suffer a thrashing each week when he's not even guaranteed a first team place, plus it can hardly help his Rovers career missing so many games. It's not as if he was even born in Gibraltar!

It's not as if he was even born in Gibraltar! Exactly. I don't understand it either. Yes, he gets to play international football. But I'd have thought he'd want to earn a first team place at Rovers (or elsewhere) first and foremost.

4th division football with big bruisers, crunching tackles sometimes poor facilities and cr@p weather...
Or..
Exotic locations, playing and learning from some of Europe's elite, prestige of international football with higher profile and expenses paid top facilities...
Yea, I'd rather stay with the Gas.

Bit off-topic, KP, but did you see The Hairy Bikers in Poland this week? Poland looked beautiful, and the people warm and friendly. Worth watching on catch-up if you missed it.

It's not as if he was even born in Gibraltar! Hmmm, let me think that one intensively. Football is a short career and gosling had been very fortunate to play with the best and travel afar. He'll be better for it and even at this level some players believe the gap to the top is not that impossible. Best if luck to the bloke,

Some lovely romantic posts on this thread. Gosling is a young footballer struggling to establish himself in the professional game. He should remember who pays his wage.

Yea, I get what you're saying Astafjevs. I just think it would be very wrong of BRFC to stand in the way of ambition. I posted that I would prefer Gas to the luxuries of a different way. It was tongue in cheek with a huge element of truth. This is the club I love, but I wouldn't expect everyone to feel like that..

Wasn't he playing fir Gibraltar before we signed him? Meanwhile, Darryl Duffy is gearing to play in the same league as Roberto Carlos, Adrian Mutu and Florent Malouda.

Surely if Rovers release him next summer then sitting on the bench in Faro won't count for anything and he'll probably finish up dropping into non league obscurity?
As far as learning form Europe's elite is chasing them around a pitch for 90 mins really learning from them? The fact he's stuck on our bench perhaps suggests he hasn't learnt a lot so far!

If he's not playing much for us then this is giving him some game time
How can he not learn from the experience?

Got to give Oxford goal scorer his due. That was a perfectly timed shot and one of the best goals I've seen this season. We are playing some good football but no end product and set pieces are being wasted. We still lack that bite up front. If my Dad was alive I could hear him saying SHOOT ! How he hated teams trying to walk the ball into the net. Blackthorn giving a very good account of themselves.
