Reaction from the University of the West of England came in the form of a statement:
"We are disappointed and frustrated that all the hard work and planning to deliver a state of the art facility for the region has been dashed. We still believe that the proposal that won planning and community support is still an excellent way forward".
Sainsbury's statement:
"We understand that it is a sensitive issue and there will be disappointment. We will continue to work with the local community from our existing Bristol stores".
