Whatever happened to history and tradition?

Just couldn't carry on watching it, with the number of Welsh players in the team and a Welsh coach (no problem with any of that) but red shirts, it was like watching the Welsh national team play. Think I might switch my allegiance to Gloucester, it's not much further to drive, the fans are far more passionate and Steve Lansdowne doesn't own them ! If they don't go up this year they are going to be faced with having only 4 or 5 thousand fans again who will be completely lost at Trashton.

Well they've got to the two legged 'final', how stupid is that ? Much prefer to have a one off final either at Twickenham or maybe another large neutral ground.

Final result 1st leg = Bristol 28 Worcester 29 Not Bristol's best performance but it is technically only half time so the return leg at Worcester is all to play for. Bristol won a narrow league victory there earlier this season so can they repeat it, not on tonights performance but it should be a tight game. I worry for Bristol if they don't get promotion, as their support will drop again and you'll have 4 or 5 thousand supporters in a 27,000 capacity stadium, it won't look or even feel good. Apparently I heard in an unofficial survey among Bristol Rugby supporters of those asked 90% expressed their view that they would like to return to the Mem !

Sadly I have become disinterested in Bristol's RFC annual attempts to regain their Premiership spot. I don't wish them any harm but they have chosen their own path to follow, and I believe that they have lost an awful lot of empathy by doing so. It's all very well for Steve Lansdown to fly in and hand out complimentary scarves to the masses, but these instant soundbites are exactly that, instant without having any long-lasting effects. In fairness I did think that this would be their year, and it still well might be, who knows as it's still only HT. But I fear that it may prove to be a case of déjà vu for Lansdown's Bristol Bottlers. But as a resident of north Bristol I no longer feel the ''pull'' of supporting them.
Lansdown might just as well have relocated them to Taunton or Nailsworth, or perhaps just re-named them as something else entirely and have done with it.

Me too Brizzle, supported them since a young lad in the 1960's, went to watch them at the Mem regularly in fact far more frequently than the Gas. Now I've become so disinterested in them I no longer go (in fact haven't been since they moved to Trashton) and neither will I be going while they play there. If they get promoted I might go and watch them play away but my hearts no longer with them and in fact I might even go back to watching Gloucester if I want a rugby fix.

So why were they playing in red when moneybags Lansdowne had bought a job lot of cheap & nasty scarves in the traditional Bristol colours? I've got mixed feelings about the second leg. Usually as a Bristolian I'd want the local team to succeed, but a second consecutive failure would be one in the eye for the tax dodging owner of Bristol Sport (Rugby section)wouldn't it?

From today's Bristol Post . . .
I'm just sat here wondering whether or not Bristol RFC play-off jinx is about to visit them again tomorrow. If I were a supporter I don't think that I'd be at all confident of winning the game. Still, you never know, do you?
