I think that the most significant result of the day must be . . . Chester 3, Dover 1.
Good omen for next week, particularly as Dover are virtually out of the play-off places now, and we walloped Chester last week.

Surely not, John Akinde only scores from penalty kicks . . . doesn't he? Yeah that bloke 'Akinde (pen)' hasn't scored in a while has he?

As we know Gateshead can play good football on a nice surface, confident they can do something for us come the final day there is definitely a final twist in this race yet! They're a bunch of thugs with a powder puff attack

No wonder they had 6 out suspended!

did i hear a slight rebuff toward Harrison regarding his current scoring sequence, and a more upbeat praise toward Taylor? or was i mis-hearing things......otherwise a level headed attitude to what is in store for the last two games, obvious hoping for a twist in the last games regarding the billy bees, and hoping for two more wins for the Rovers, well done the Rovers for a good job pretty easily done

To be fair, he could have sent Ellis off. He kicked out at the player on the ground, and was already on a yellow. Lucky for us. No Ellis, little chance of promotion. To be fair, he could have kept his yellow card in his pocket when he did book Ellis. Maybe he should have saved it for the 2 footed lunge by a Southport player or for pulling Taylor back when he got away from a defender. Inept doesn't begin to cover it. Booking Blissit for playing a ball 2 feet off the ground because an opposition player, coming from behind, decided to duck down to head the ball? Maybe the lino in front of the West stand would have got more decisions correct if he had thought to pop a peaked cap into his kit bag so that he didn't have to spend the entire match shielding his eyes from the sun. Surely there must be some better officials available?

Ellis was extremely lucky not to receive a yellow card, or even a straight red at the end. Cannot understand why he would let himself get worked up at the end of the nothing game that we won convincingly.

Not for the first time either - weeks ago when asked about Ellis DC responded by saying what a quality player Blisset is. I commented at the time and I still hold that I can't see how that sort of thing doesn't show that there must be some personal issue on DC's part towards Harrison.

Only took 5mins on the bees forum to see the strong majority believe the title is theirs! We are going to 'implode' at Dover & they will be champions (more or less) with a game to spare!
Jeeeeeeeeesus I hope we pull this off!!

Or: he's keeping Ellis' feet on the ground and ensuring that some public praise is given to those who will benefit from it I'm not convinced I'm afraid. Why can he not praise more than one player in an interview? DC's public comments on Ellis range from non-existant to scathing - he's called him an idiot, daft and lazy. He's made no secret of the fact he wanted him transfered out, he's made him fight for his place in the team where others less deserving have walked in. I don't think that one line of praise where it's been due will sink the battleship but, on more than one occasion, praising another player when directly asked about EH is getting into personal territory as I see it.

Perhaps he is heaping him with praise in person, could be seen as risky to wax lyrical about him to the media every week and have the lad get way above his station?! Who knows.
I'd almost give DC 100% credit for bringing Harrison on the leaps and bounds he has the last year or so! Old Wardy or his predecessors certainly didn't do anything to help with any EH progress.

I see it as he is keeping his feet on the ground, we NEED him now more than ever especially if it is to be the play offs. Taking him off today when he was on a yellow was the right thing to do.

Agreed, he was lucky not to be sent off. DC is absolutely right to praise and recognise other players performing well.

Maybe he's also looking to next season and doesn't want Ellis being scouted and tempted away by a well-paid move?
