Strange thread title but thus is a thanks to the gas on the train back from Worcester today.. As the masses boarded, many high on a gas win,a few Easter pints and the joys of the day singing loud and raucous rang out out, a little lad stood nr the bike stand tired more than anything but a bit scared and he started to cry , around me was around 15 blokes who spotted this young lad crying , to a man everyone stopped checked he was ok and chatted to him... Turns out it was his birthday.... 10 yrs old he didnt know about Rovers or at least he didn't think he did ... I asked him who his team was... Southampton he said ... Favorite player? he replied Rickie Lambert but we sold him.... Ten mins of explaining followed and all of a sudden a 10 yr old from Devizes is a Gashead no more scared no more tears ... But then a horrific moment for mum ...her son .. Now a Gashead is about to burst his bladder..cue a Gashead lifting him up shouting "clear the way" 3 carriages of gasheads singing happy birthday the lad made it..slash done... I walked him back down the carriages.. By now the singing was back up. And going ... I looked down at this lad thinking dont cry mate its loud but friendly .... Shouldn't have worried..he was now lip sinking along to goodnight Irene ... Fully changed from tired scared saints fan to future mini Gashead..... All to often we read in the Bristol post of frightening experiences caused by troublesome football fans... Tonight was what really happens, people enjoying themselves not massively. Changing but helping and carrying on ... His mum thanked the gas army as they left the train at cam, yate ,parkway and Filton (where I left) she said my boys won't ever forget Bristol Rovers.. I said yeah sorry ... She stopped me and said in a good way .. Your all mad she said but in a brilliant way.. I got off that train with as big a buzz as the goals gave me.... What a great day to be a Gashead!!! Sorry about grammar & spelling but I wanted to get my point across.. Some may feel its a nothing story but that ten yr old called tom will tell all his mates about this song about Irene, about Ricki lambert having okayed for this team he now likes ... He will tell them about Bristol Rovers because despite all the crap that's so often written we are a terrific. Set of fans even the ones with a few too many on board ,a tattoo (even on his face) a slip of the tongue language wise... Going up maybe ,this league of which I've enjoyed being in is still tin pot .. Our fans however Are top top draw.

Stopped off at Strensham Services on the way home it was like a mini invasion of Gasheads, all very excited but well behaved enjoying a break on the way home, a great day to be a Gashead. Sorry to those unable to make it for genuine reasons, Oxongas hope your visit to Wales wasn't too stressful but it is superb weather here now and just about to spend part of the day visiting Caerphilly Castle

Glad you posted this Lockleazer. I was in that carriage near the lad too, and it was quite touching to see how the Gas pulled it around, in what was, let's face it, quite an intimidating atmosphere, especially for a mother and two kids.
What you didn't mention is that when singing to him, several Gas fans even gave him a fiver for his birthday.
Whole thing finished off the day perfectly.
(Never did find out who owned the bike mind!)

We were treated brilliantly by Kidderminster. When we got off the coaches, the Police sorted us into those with tickets and those without. I thought the ones without tickets would be held. Nope, they worked out a way to get them in and many for free The stewards were lenient and fair, not one provoked any of us, we were not told to stand behind yellow lines, food selection was superb and the policing and ground staff were superb. They welcomed us with open arms and it made for a great day. Thank you Kidderminster harriers, you could teach many clubs a real lesson in hospitality.

I was on the same carriage. The little embarrassed smirk on the lad's face as it was announced that he needed the toilet was great. Pretty sure I walked past you at Filton, Lockleazer. Was a great atmosphere on the cramped, slow, delayed train back apart from the bellend that decided to chuck a full can at someone for what seemed no real reason.

Must have been the same dickhead that threw a bottle of water on the pitch behind the goal mouth, didn't see who did it but along with a few others we gave the general direction of the group it came from a load of verbals......

I wouldn't ever condone throwing stuff on the pitch, but if it's thrown at Lee Hughes I'd pretend I didn't see it.

I have some sympathy with your view but if it had cost us the match points (unlikely I know) I'd rather it didn't happen at all and thank goodness no one got on the pitch either. Lets continue with our controlled rowdiness it makes for a much better day !

There haven't been many positives in the Conference, but this has been the big one IMO, and at many grounds. A hint of a smidgeon of a soupcon of a silver lining
