That's a bit unfair isn't it as Taylor, Dawson, Monkhouse and Blissett all did the same on Saturday too ? Is that the same Dawson who got an assist? Yes but it was from a corner so like penalties they don't count

Maybe right about needing to be motivated but putting him on the bench every week in the conference surely is not the way to do just that. His problem is he is not the type of player who is going to run through brick walls (ala Sinclair). He needs the ball to be passed quickly to his feet and this is our big problem we don't have enough players capable of doing this. IMO if we get promoted we should make every effort to sign him next season as he will be just the type of player we need at the higher standard. We have plenty of players who will run through brick walls but not enough with a bit of quality about them. Agree to an extent. think this demonstrates though what a good quality, diverse squad that Clarke has put together - options everywhere to change the pattern of a game with a substitution

I think Balanta is a little like Hayles in the fact that he is strong and it is hard to get the ball off him. I'd play him up front instead of Blisset

11 matches to go (plus potential play-offs)
PERFECT time for him to try to earn a contract / put himself in shop window.

Balanta just one of four Rovers players never to be on the losing side...Blissett, Dawson & Easter not a big surprise as we haven't lost in LEAGUE since Oct. As you know Mike I love stats but that one really is stretching any meaning / point.

I think this has been the plan all along - to take a gamble on a player who was way off match fitness and clearly a major injury risk but in theory is way too good for the standard and hope that come the end of the season he'd be a difference maker. Almost like getting a new player for the last few games.

How else are we going to get good quality players to come and play in the Conference? Either you overpay or there's something not quite right about them that requires a bit of risk to be taken by both parties.

It'll be interesting to see how a reinvigorated Sinclair, Easter and Clarke will be used by the manager, but if nothing else they will have fresh legs and minds. I haven't heard too much about Josh Wakefield since his arrival, and I'm wondering whether he is seen as just cover for the squad (as was Goldberg), or if there is something a little more permanent lined up. As his loan was for an initial one month, that must be almost up by now.

An issue I have with Balanta's usage is him being constantly played or suggested as a striker or an attacking midfielder. He's a natural left winger (as in a 4-3-3 winger) and should make for a nice left midfielder (as in a flat 4-4-2 left midfielder) at this level, maybe, just maybe, better than even Monkhouse. He has the pace and talent for it, and his fitness is good now. He lacks motivation though and maybe this has to be addressed with game time.

Thought his preferred position was just behind the striker(s)

Thought his preferred position was just behind the striker(s) As far as I can remember he's always been a left winger mate, or at least has been playing for a while as one

Thanks for that. Sounds like we should have good competition for places. I was wondering what the score was with Trotman.
