It's mission accomplished as far as I'm concerned. We will win this league pulling away. At least a 5 to 10 point lead at the end of the season. The rest are beginning to crumble. Barnet are a beaten docket, Macclesfield are not strong enough and the rest are too far behind. League 1 football in the UWE is now just 3 years away. Magic mushrooms

If you are top and lose to a bunch of rag asses like Colchester, it's fine to blame both the pitch and referee in the same sentence, apparently Yea but he's not a sore looser! Haha I like any manager who hates losing. If we had someone like that, who wears his heart on his sleeve, we would love it. I know many won't like this but he reminds me of Ollie but without the humour

We're rapidly reaching the time of the season when the men will be sorted from the boys, and I believe that we will step up . . . but it won't necessarily be pretty to watch though. It was never pretty when we went up under Gerry Francis. Lots of odd goal wins and draws in the mix and this season has much the same feel. I'm really beginning to think we can do it! 150 plus Rovers in the Royal archer last night certainly believe. Not seen our lot so happy in many years. It was fantastic to be around such positivity

Like many on here I remember going to the "title decider" at the mem v Preston, we were unlucky to lose I thought.
a few weeks later we lost at relegated Cardiff on last day of the season...
think it is alfreton at home last day this year?
but this is a different rovers... Hopefully!!

It is bordering on the arrogant. There is no evidence to suggest they might not win the lge. Everyone says they have the 'easiest' run-in. I get a feeling no-ne is mentioning them solely because they are not (a) a team who have been top of the lge nearly all season, and have a 25 goal top scorer, or (b) a team with large attendances, some decent players, a good young manager, and a passion to right the wrongs we committed last season. Judged on watching them once this season, losing to us 4-0, I'm sure many of us will stratch our heads and wonder how on earth they can be up there with Barnet and us, but judged purely on stats, especially home record, top of the current form table, and a healthy GD, macc have a very very decent chance.

We're not top yet, but if we are fortunate enough to get up there, it'll be fun finding out.. exactly what I was thinking. I'm not saying we will stay top if we get to the top (partly because there are still lots of games to go and partly as Barnet will eventually catch up the extra game) but I don't think the specific issue they talk about on their forum is a big one for us. They mention a lot that everyine raises their game against them / wants to knock them down a peg or two. Well, we've possibly been having that every game this season anyway, so hopefully that will not be a reason for us to fail if we ever get top spot.

. . . and we've still got Easter, Sinclair and Clarke to return to first team action, at least they should all be well-rested and raring to go. Those injuries could be blessings in disguise. We've scrapped our way through without them and now with just a few games left, we'll hopefully have all three back to give that extra impetus. Well, that's the theory anyway....................

Of course we'll go up, either as champs or thru the playoffs. We need to start thinking though - not too seriously, but thinking nonetheless - about life in Div 2. This Conference league is what could be described as "lite football" compared to the football league. No hard tackles, no cynicism, no killer instinct etc which are part of the FL. We will need some cash to pay for some FL hard nuts with ability to keep us in Div 2. We must NOT, under any circumstances, come down again. EVER.

No we don't, we need to concentrate on a very difficult to end of this season and get as many points in our final 10 games. There's still a long way to go and we are definitely not guaranteed promotion. Last thing we want to do is look ahead right now, need to concentrate on these last 11 games. Crazy post.

I certainly hope so. I still wake up in a cold sweat when I dream about when we went top of League 1 in March 2000. Police horses on the pitch against Stoke, the false dawn of beating the she teds, and that awful final game at Ninian Park, Holloway talking about 'chokers' in the team aaaaggghhh!!!!

We most certainly can handle being top, given that we have momentum, a focused squad and good cover for almost every area of the pitch. Motivation and team spirit are all very good right now too. If we had been top earlier, as someone else mentioned, maybe we'd have more trouble coping with being on all the other teams' crosshairs but with 10 games to go we can most certainly grit our teeth and put up a good fight.
The real objective now is to get to said top so that we can manage it.
