I have just been reading the story in The Telegraph regarding Franz Beckenbauer being banned by by FIFA for 90 days for refusing to co-operate with a bribery inquiry into the 2022 Qatar World Cup, and I'm rather hoping that someone on here might be able to guide me through the political minefield and explain to me in words of one syllable what they think is happening. I've always regarded Beckenbauer as being one of the ''good'' guys of football, whether as a player, manager or administrator, and it does occur to me that he is being hung out to dry in an attempt to deflect the heat away from some of the other dubious chancers on FIFA's upper table. In any event, here's the article . . . www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/world-cup/10898726/Franz-Beckenbauer-banned-from-all-football-for-refusing-to-co-operate-with-bribery-inquiry-into-Qatar-World-Cup.html

How convenient that the first casualty in the FIFA corruption investigation is someone from the same governing body (UEFA) who recently asked Blatter to stand down.
Blatter must be delighted.
Football is now more corrupt than boxing.

Not saying that Beckenbauer is innocent but with so many others implicated the speed at which FIFA acted against Beckenbauer is unheralded.

The German did vote for Russia and Qatar.
Surely a mega rich footballing God had a good reason to vote for a world cup to be played in temperatures approaching 50 degrees.
Maybe he is just a greedy ***t like his mate Platini,I bet as players they wouldn`t be happy playing football in Qatar.
