Before we get carried away after the excellent result Saturday I think we only have to look at Barnet to see that being top of the table brings added pressure and overtaking them at this stage may be to our disadvantage. I would hope that our mix of players WILL be able to handle the pressure but to be predicting winning a league which will probably take 90 points is putting one helluva lot of pressure on what is really quite a young team. The next two games will show us one thing about our team- whether they can follow up a great victory with two home victories against mid table opposition. I can certainly remember many occasions where we have failed to take advantage of this sort of situation and there is no divine right in this or any other League.
If we can achieve it then I think there is a reasonable chance we will be top of the League going into the Gateshead game and that could make that game even more difficult.
I think the important thing is to continue taking each game as it comes and getting behind the team. We can be the extra man so lets give the lads an advantage at every game left but lets not get carried away until we see how our lads can play under that different type of pressure.

I guess one way is to turn last season on its head with the immortal phrase "...we were only in the relegation zone for 70 minutes..." and say "..,we only need to be in the promotion zone for 70 minutes...".
Like musical chairs it's where you are at when the music stops. Or in this case when the whistle blows. How many races are won on the dip for the tape?
The records will forever show a win....not necessarily how close it was.

I disagree. It's what they've been aiming at, once there it'll all fall into place.

I think our players have had to deal with the pressure all season - playing for BRFC in the conference means pressure every game

If we have an obvious advantage in this league as one of the biggest clubs in it then it should surely be in the size and depth of our playing squad. That should tell more in the second half of the season compared with Barnet, Macc etc. I've always thought if we were in the mix with 10-12 games to go we had as good a chance as anyone. From League 1 on down who lasts the pace often comes down to whose squad is less banged up and who has more key players available. There's an element of luck in that but if you have more resources you have a better chance of covering the holes.
