Do you know the can of worms you are opening? Imo, good coach but a manager perhaps not.

Yeah, don't think anyone here will have a problem with him as a coach/assistant manager, though.

I'm still of the belief that we should have stuck with him and could still be in L1, but there is a strong case otherwise. He cut his teeth in management with us and is an intelligent thinker on the game*, without perhaps being the most dynamic man manager. Did very well as assistant to Chris Hughton at Birmingham and Norwich and this is probably the best role for him at the moment. I'm not aware that he has worked with Slade before, but they would have crossed swords in Slade's time as manager at Yeovil and Orient. *This suggests we played clever football with him in charge - again, open to debate!

The old Trolls & Lennie partnership was a true winner!
After a while however, the old forum were kicking, screaming & spitting nails on what exactly Lennie did to earn his mega bucks.
The board removed him from his post & they soon got the answer!
Trolls just couldn't be without him! Sort of a lower league version of Clough & Taylor if you like!

Why do posters come out with such rubbish about LL & PT, it looks like we are still struggling to pay off the debts LL ran up and PT was useless without LL.
Just think if LL/PT/NH had never got involved in Rovers we might be still playing league football at a refurb Mem without massive debts.

Quite right Topper. Life before Trollope was brilliant. What a rotter he was.

What the hell were we thinking letting either of them go. I mean just look at the incredible things they've done since!

Let's face it - Trollope was sh*te. All he managed to achieve was one solitary promotion back to L1 and three dull years in that League without getting us into the Championship!!!!! And he then had the audacity to plummet us to a rather low position in L1. Not in a relegation position, but getting on for it.
Gawd knows where we'd be now if we hadn't sacked him.

Oh well, wish him luck. One memory him cuddling Uncle Albert at wembley. Got used to supporting a lower league club and had great days out under him and LL and I honestly think that PT was the team player.

Many of us who were critical of Lennie for his lackadaisical manner and apparent disinterest in the job would have had a different opinion if we had known he was being made to work his notice period.

To right after all he did sign Blizzard! Rovers always have to have an enemy. Poor Blizzard was plagued by injury and is a villain. Brunt is plagued by injuries and is a hero.

Blizzard was really poor when he played. Brunt did well initially. Jamie Shore was brilliant for a very short period. He'd have been a legend if his knee was up to it, but then he wouldn't have played for us if his knee was up to it.

Always likes Trollope, never got any credit for the period of relative success and comfort he gave us - aided by Lennie. He has gone on to better things, had a time as a Premiership Assistant Manager & will be a good fit for Cardiff. Personally never liked or particularly rated Russell Slade and often wondered why he left Yeovil - there was talk of unusual expenses claims....??
Good luck to Trolls!

Quite simply the only manager* in my lifetime (conscious at least) supporting Rovers to give a sustained period of "success". I say that in inverted commas because others may have seen it at a higher level, but for most of my years where I can remember the football, we have been s**te in the bottom league. To get a promotion at Wembley, a cup final and an FA Cup quarter final in those 2 years was brilliant. It was around the time I went to university in Plymouth and I could wear my shirt down there with pride and people knew who we were.
Purely for that reason alone, Trollope will get a beer from me any time he wants.
*Could add Darrell to this depending on how season ends.
