I thought that ultimately it was at the discretion of the referee and that seems like a pretty sensible approach. It's not like it's the first time it's happened. I can remember both examples of teams turning up with the wrong kit and of the referee deciding the kits were too similar in the last 15 years. It's certainly not the first time we've had to wear our away kit at home.

I can't ever remember us wearing our away kit at home, Irish. Are you sure?

I can't ever remember us wearing our away kit at home before yesterday, Irish. Are you sure? We've worn one-off kits a couple of times (Black Arab v Swindon, Pink in a friendly against Plymouth). That was supposed to be an edit of the original post. Oops.

I can't ever remember us wearing our away kit at home, Irish. Are you sure? I think I can remember a game at the Mem where we were made to change our kit at halftime by the referee because it was clashing; the details are hazy though. I may be wrong - the last 15 years blur into a kind of blancmange of mediocrity at times. That's obviously as well as the Rochdale one.

We've had a few where the away team has had to wear our kit, and I can remember us causing Southend to wear their away kit at home, but I can't recall us wearing an away kit at home. Or changing at half time!

The fact they left the red & white stripes at home & brought an all blue kit to Bristol Rovers away is quite unbelievable! That post says it all really, what on earth the LCFC kit manager was thinking of only he knows. According to Wikipedia their first choice kit is red and white striped shirts, their away colours are a solid green shirt with a white vertical stripe, and their third choice colours are a solid blue affair. So they pitch up yesterday with their third choice strip, when playing away to one of the (still) most instantly recognisable strips in football. Still, all's well that ends well, a comfortable 3 points for us so no real harm done . . . unless the Conference administrators look too deeply that is.

Generations ago I am talking about the 1940' and 50's if a colour clash in the FA CUP the home side had to change. Rovers played Portsmouth and Chelsea in mid 50's at home wearing a white shirt and black shorts so Pompey and Chelsea could use their blue shirts.

Remember City having to borrow our shirts at home in an FA Cup tie due to a clash when as HB says the home team had to change .1950's.Really weird that was.

No point in fining a club who already have financial difficulties!! The game was played and at the end of the day does it really matter what colours the teams were in as long as they were identifiable from each other? We won.lets move on!! The voice of sanity on a really silly subject - as stevek192 says - move on.

Clarke out An experienced manager wouldnt have made such an elementary mistake I really doubt this would happen during most managers careers.

From the other forum: "And now the real reason behind the Lincoln Kit, They were due to play away at Alfreton, who play in red, on the Tuesday, but this game was postponed, they simply left the containers packed knowing they had another away game on Saturday, not even thinking about what kit had been packed."

How very non league. I can remember a game at Barnet when Uncle Albert (RIP) didn't check the up to date kit details and our socks clashed so he had to buy a set of socks from Barnet.
