Looking at some posts on Facebook about how our away following this weekend compares and we would have been 6th in the Championhip based on away numbers.... That is phenomenal.
I was dreading the conference but myself and my 8 year old lad (who is Rovers to the core) got a season ticket this year and we have thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this season. Gas Heads have been an absolute credit to this club this year as have DC and the team he has assembled. We are where we are ladies and gents and it isn't as bad as I thought!
I desperately want back into the league as I suspect you lot do as well and for what it's worth I am very confident we are going up this year. From what I have seen we are the best team in this league by some distance.
For all the issues that we have faced / will face I absolutely love being a Gas Head. We have a unique anthem, a unique kit and the best fans around in my opinion.... Whatever level we maybe at right now our fans have been nothing short of magnificent this season.
Going down last year was horrible, embarrassing etc etc but it was also a huge test of how loyal Gas Heads really were... I think we can safely say we have passed with flying colours.
What I have personally learned is that the conference is not the hell hole I expected and for the first time in a long while I am enjoying watching the team who play a massive part in my sons and my life.
If any board members / people close to the club watch this forum please print this post and show it to the players / DC as it would be nice for them to understand (I am sure they do already) the positive effect they have had on our fans and the difference we have seen this year compared to the last 5 years.
Whatever happens this year I can hand on heart say I am proud to be a Gas Head!
I have a lot of City mates (most of them) and as you can imagine there were some horrific comments flying around on Social Media the day the unthinkable happened... One in particular stood out and it read something like "what a fantastic day to be a City fan... This will be the death of Bristol Rovers". I won't ever forget that one (it was particularly nasty)... Thanks to DC, the team this year and our amazing fans we have proved that will never happen and although they will never admit it most City fans will know, deep down that they will never get rid of The Gas.
