What fool would look to oil exporters for investment at the moment?? They are probably taking a bigger kicking than the supermarkets as the prices they can charge haven't dropped by 50%+ in 6 months? We do seem up the creak without a paddle at the moment. The Saudi's are just squeezing the Russians, it won't stay at this level for too long. Goes round in 7 year cycles roughly. as the Bible said

I'm glad no one seems to have been offended by my sarcastic first post on this thread and no offence is intended to Stan Szecowka or anyone else who tries to help the club.
If a job is worth doing it's worth doing well and Nick has not made the best of this. "I ran a very successful business", ' I sold out", "I think, I think, I think" will only lead a potential investor to say well if you are so successful and you think this is such a fantastic opportunity why aren't you exploiting it yourself ?
To sell the club to the best buyer and at the best price will require a properly prepared prospectus and the assistance of professionals who specialize in selling sports businesses.
That will entail money, effort and imagination but most of all it will need Nick himself to finally confront the naked truth. He has not "just about achieved what I wanted to" he has led the club into a shameful situation and now he has a responsibility to use his BEST efforts to get us out of it.

I thought your post was a good analogy. If there's a wrong and half-arsed way to do it.... Your last paragraph in this one is spot on. The guy's effectively standing in a raincoat in a place that rich people live and saying 'anyone want to buy a football club? I've broken it and don't want it any more'. Still, free publicity in Gulf News is cheaper than a card in a newsagent's window so Toni will be pleased. Maybe not the most effective approach though, so no change there. From our point of view, at least he's said something to someone and we've been able to listen in.

I would imagine thst is the reason MSP have become involved. My belief is that they were chosen due to their ability to take stock and sell an ongoing business. At least, I hope this is the reason

Save your time and emotional effort Swiss. You have been telling them for years to get professional help. They know best, obviously. We've only had one lot of planning permission passed in full but the project not delivered and the news that project wasn't going ahead was broken in the most shameful of ways, now the 2nd lot of planning and along with it the new stadium looks to be hanging by a thread, relegation to a division containing joke teams like Accrington Stanley and Newport, but we couldn't compete with them, so now we play Nuneaton and Dartford, more managers than I can remember, record wage bill and record losses, what makes you think they need your advice?

The sentence that made me laugh loudest - ...... non league !!! “We have invested our own money to get to where we are and it would be nice for someone to realise that now and take it to the next stage." lol, yeah we have invested our own money to ensure the steady decline of the club over the last 20 years.

i wonder if BSS has anything to add to this thread? He will probably appear on here in the next few days claiming he knows nothing and that all rumours are bollocks.

Top marks to Stan for the 'heads-up' and then the article. But let's be honest - this makes our Club look a complete and utter shambles. We are now so desperate we are hawking the Club around the middle east to no specific buyer like a latter day Del Boy. The lack of professionalism around how Higgs and the Board operate is absolutely stunning. I wonder how good the prospectus looks. Very professional no doubt (if there even is one). What a total joke. Thank f**k Gasheads have a sense of humour.

This approach to selling an established multi-million pound sporting business via blind advertising is indeed a f**cking utter shambles.

I don't see much wrong with this. It costs nothing and is worth a try. Probably come to nothing but you just never know.

Look at it from the other way. What if the editor of the paper posted that he had approached NH for an interview re new investment from Bahrain, and NH had turned him down?
What would the response have been on here from the very same people who are criticising? I have a hunch the response would have been the same.
Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't?

Probably thankful we were not inviting the next Vincent Tan to destroy the club? Let's be honest here if there's an investor with millions to spend he's not going to do so on the back of an ex-pats magazine article, given it appears to be printed in English does anybody but ex-pats actually read the mag anyway? it looks like one of those mags read by ex-pats you pick up in Spain etc not an high brow Bahrain business newspaper.

Its all a bit desperate IMO; yes, it would be great if a Arab put a chunk of money in the club, although we all know that is very unlikely to happen. Whats more worrying is Higgs is looking for money to start the build, which says to me he is a long way away from getting any cash out of Sainsburys. UTG
