A post on the Bournemouth forum: An update - as far as Pompey and AFCW fans understand it:
We're set to rip up Tubbs' contract, and have allowed a straight shootout between Pompey and Wimbledon to offer Tubbs permanent deals.
Tubbs has chosen Pompey, and will join them on the free transfer shortly. Said to be quite a tidy contract as well, thanks very much.
If that's correct, then all the best to him.

the end result may be accurate (i.e. going to Pompey), but the above seems to have holes in it.
"We're set to rip up Tubbs' contract"?
ha. surely it's the other way around. they want Tubbs to rip up the contract, as he won't be getting almost £6k a week from ANY team. I can;t see why he would agree to rip up the contract when he could get his full wage until his large contract is up in the summer.
Gas were genuinely interested so I can't see how it was/is only a 2 horse race.

I remember David Lee joining us from Chelsea back in, what, 1998. Made a big song and dance about 'taking a pay cut' to join us, never mind that they'd paid him off so it wasn't anything like a pay cut, more like a pay bonus

David Lee, I'd forgotten him....I still remember Bob Lee though, the 'former Everton striker' we signed in 1990 who made Mickey Evans look fit and fast!.

That's the answer then get the club £135m in debt go into administration as Portsmouth did in 2010 and then you will be able to afford to give players better contracts than clubs who have always paid their way.

Name 3 football league clubs, who "pay their way" and are not in debt

I can give you a long list of league clubs who have gone bust and are in a much better situation than we are.

I remember seeing his Rovers debut in an awful 0-0 draw at Trashton. Totally unfit. Two very poor teams and no surprise we both got relegated at the end of the season.

I don;t care how well they have since done and how clever they have been buying/developing/selling players, I HATE the fact that they went bust, shafted their creditors (which could include local businesses, fans etc) and a few months later found almost £1m for Lambert, and also bought Lee Barnard, jason Puncheon etc. It makes a complete mockery of the sport, and of modern life.

Not really sure what there is to hate about Pomepy as they've gone from a Premiership club to a mid table Div 2 team, they are hardly beating the system! As regards Southampton they just struck lucky getting a very rich benefactor on board following their financial problems.
