All about Akinfenwa

Kind of nice to see a journeyman pro and cult lower league figure get a bit of a recognition.

The guy deserves immense credit because he could easily have given up a decade ago when he had crippling knee injuries which ended his chances of becoming a top flight player.  It's often forgotten that Akinfenwa was considered a top prospect when he first came along and while he was always a big guy he wasn't always that stacked and when he was young he was pretty mobile too and many thought he'd be a Prem player at some point.  Injury did for all that and most players would have retired but he battled back and reinvented himself and has carved out an impressive career for himself based on very hard work and superb conditioning through an iron discipline.  Which is why it's pretty ironic when he gets stick for being fat and lazy because he doesn't conform to what a lot of people think a footballer should look like.  Seems like a nice guy too.
