...we have no realistic expectation to win promotion. Some may expect to be in play offs at most, but in real terms anything can happen.
If we make significant signings before the next match, our expectation level may change and hence, our outlook.
And subsequently, the levels of patience will change too.
I just hope whomever comes in is given time and understanding? Because it isn't until now (January) we can appreciate how strong a team we have under pressure at this level..
With hindsight and hopefully foresight we can look up..

With hindsight and hopefully foresight we can look up.. What? Of course we have a realistic expectation to win promotion. We are safely within the play off zone and look capable of even chasing down Barnet for the top position. If we don't get top spot then we have to be favourites in the playoffs. This team work very hard for each other and it is attitude perhaps more than ability that has seen us hit a great vein of form losing only once since early September. Not making the playoffs was never acceptable and nor is it now likely. Winning it is still very possible.

Over the last 10 games, we have 2.2 points per game, Barnet have 2 points per game.
We are 6 points behind, with 16 games left. 0.2 points per game over 16 games is 3.2 points, putting us just 3 points behind Barnet by the end of the season. You have to say therefore that on current form Barnet can be caught.
So maybe not expectation, but definitely a realistic chance of automatic promotion, and a realistic expectation of ending up in the playoffs, where we will have at least 1 in 4 chance of promotion.

You're only as good as your last game, on current form we'll win every game between now and the end of the season and Barnet will lose all theirs.

Really? I don't think any Gahsead's are to worried about playing Woking at the moment?
I think the OP really needs to explain his thinking behind starting this thread, as there's no logic to what he's posted after the team have just taken a possible 15 points abd Barnet got hammeredat Lncoln.

What an absolute stupid post. It's been a while since I last saw one as stupid on here. Have I missed something there because I can't quite see how that post is absolutely stupid mate? "we have no realistic expectation to win promotion." 2nd in the league, just 6 points off automatic promotion, undefeated in 14?games, lost 1 in 26?games. About 10 points clear of 6th place, yet he posts we have no realistic expectations to win promotion. I very much expect us to win promotion. So IMO! it's a absolutely stupid post.

Unbeaten in 13, once in 23 to be precise! Also 11 unbeaten away games

I'm all for constructive criticism and lowering expectations but this post is just baloney

If any of you care to remember Ollies last stand, you'll take heed to think we've achieved anything yet. If we expect something it puts the pressure on. So I will remain cautious on raising expectation levels.
We are going really well at the mo, it's really good to see, and yesterday we showed patience to carve out a result.
As supporters we should be patient too, and just because we secure a play off spot doesn't mean we secure promotion.
Caution guys, calm down!

Thanks for pointing out the obvious, if we were top I can understand it if fans got a bit carried away, but that's clearly no the case at present.
This is probably the first time since we sold Lambert that we can be positive we could achive something why try and put a dampener on it?

It's the first time in 15 years that we've been near the top of a division for weeks on end. We've not won automatic promotion/a title in 25 years. I think people are entitled to be excited but equally they're not getting too carried away. Everyone is aware of the very tight margin of error involved

Well you've just proved the point as when we sold Lambert, all our expectations were positive and look what happened? I'm not trying to put a dampener on anything, I want us to succeed as much as any Gas. We just have to be patient as supporters.

Surely being a football fan who actually supports their team thru bad times and good should be loving this situation we find ourselves in. Ok I'd much prefer to be in Bournmouths position, or Chelsea's but hey I'm a Bristol Rovers fan, and that Sir I can't change!

Fully expecting us to be level on points by 17.50 31st January, that is with Grimsby and Halifax beating Barnet, who only win versus Southport.
We, in the meantime pick up 9 points from Woking, Braintree and Dartford

What are you talking about, I was certainly not positive when we sold Lambert just as the new season was getting underway. Until this season I don't think we have ever recovered from his sale.

Well, I agree! The way you wrote the paragraph, I took the inference you were as positive now as was when we sold Lambert.
