"I am convinced Ward would have got us the points to enable us to climb clear of trouble" The same Ward who couldn't manage a single away win last season?

That may be so, but I reckon he might have got us a few home wins - over Torquay, Rochdale and Mansfield perhaps. It's all conjecture I know but his home record was pretty good

I honestly believe that in each of the three relegations this century we would have stayed up if we'd stuck with the manager in place at the start of the season.
Unfortunately I've never been able to test this theory, because the powers that be panic every single time.

I am convinced we would have stayed up if Ward had gone earlier Don't think these views are actually contradictory. I wouldn't be surprised if we managed to find pretty much the only timing that would have relegated us. Istm we could have played through last season 100 times, and only got relegated once.

JJOT with the winning goal. Ah yes I had forgotten that outstanding victory, I was clearly wrong he was an excellent manager! Didn't score more than one goal in a away league game all season though! I think Crawley in the cup was even more frustrating as because draws are pointless in the cup we showed we could really attack teams away, then the very next away league match we went back to playing for a draw (and lost). Awful, awful manager responsible for the most inept, toothless, fightless Bristol Rovers side I have and hopefully will ever have seen.
