Just so everyone knows the Playoffs aren't a lottery... I mean if you win all your games in the Playoffs you go up, it's not just buy a ticket and hope for the best. Was 2007 a lottery? No, the best team at the playoffs won the playoffs. It's a pretty clever system that doesn't make it like a lottery at all. I wasn't talking in the literal sense, it will certainly feel like a lottery when one or two mistakes in a single game of football could mean the difference between being a Football League club again or a fully established non-league club! Although when a definition of lottery is "a situation whose success or outcome is governed by chance" there is a chance that the opposition have the greatest game of their lives

Which is the same odds you'd get in a lottery. ....but none of those 2nd placed teams have been Bristol Rovers - we win when we want! Seriously though this is an exceptional effort after the dismal days following May 3rd. I never thought DC would turn it around this quickly. Some of his signings have been just brilliant - Mansell, Sinclair, Taylor more recently Blissett and the fast improving Dan Leadbitter. Keep it going Gas!

we've taken 17 points from the last 7 games Blimey, we seem to be shifting through the gears effortlessly just recently. I just hope that we can maintain the progress, and hopefully build upon it. I think that what we do (or alternatively don't do) in January will be hugely important, most definitely a few loanees need to be shipped out, that's for sure. And then it will be down to the quality of the players that we then hopefully attract. It will be an interesting time I'm sure, and DC will certainly be earning his crust (and the possibility of a new contract at the end of the season as well) during the window.

Obviously Macc had set themselves up for a point, first 30 mins a bit dull but once Bob scored I was very confident we would go on and win. My prediction was 2-0. Did Puddy have a save to make? Very happy Gashead tonight. Thank you DC and the players for giving us back our Rovers. Merry Christmas one and all

He made an easy save from Barnes-Tormer in the first half but he didn't have a lot else to do.
Dropping Speiss sent the correct message: if you commit appalling mistakes regularly then you can't expect to play professional football. He'll learn.

He'll learn.. . . but hopefully not with us, and at our expense. I'm just relieved that Puddy was able to step in today. But good luck to the lad for the future anyway.

Anyone know what the lights were about at the end of the game? I don't think they were about anything specific but looked spectacular when more joined in. It seemed to be a catalyst to kick starting the atmosphere, and could be a start of an original Rovers terrace ritual... Anyone remember 'Gerry Francis blue & white army' while pointing towards other GasHeads? Then they reciprocated and looked awesome when done in unison...

It's been done at other grounds so unfortunately we're not the original ones. Looked great though. Brilliant win today and fantastic to see the work rate and spirit of the side showing through once again. Whilst we're a division lower than we were 12 months ago, it's great to be entering a new year with optimism and a likeable side that have a sense of purpose about it.

I know it's not technically "League" matches, but does anyone know the longest sequence of games Rovers have gone undefeated in league games? 27 games undefeated in both the 52-53 and 73-74 promotion seasons. Rovers were unbeaten in the last 5 games of the 72-73 season, and their 27 game run was from the start of the 73-74 season, so you could say the longest unbeaten run is 32 league games.

And we still finished runners up in 73-74!
Just a pity Barnet came back from 2 down at half time as a defeat might have started a bit of a wobble for them.

First half was cagey as i expected but we didnt lack confidence, we were always trying with it not coming off a lot of the time
Second half was brilliant. Monkhouse and Taylor were outstanding
Keep it up Gas
