Bournemouth and Brentford, two teams that we beat on a regular basis a few years back tonight sit first and third in the Championship. Really shows what Higgs leadership has done for us

Bournemouth and Brentford are exceptionally well-run.
It's being below Bury, Rochdale, Accrington, Dagenham, Newport and Stevenage that makes me sick. Those clubs have no benefactor, they don't just waste thousands and pay it off with interest bearing loans, they do things right and pay what they can afford.
With the fans we get in we should be in League 1. The fact that we aren't even in League football while teams with average gates of under half of ours seem to thrive shows what a joke we are.
Wycombe are owned by their fabs, no-one has any money there, and look at them. Then look at us...

Dropping out of the football League has taught Higgs and the board a few hard lessons. Hopefully they will learn from them and we can become a stronger and better run club. Wages and contracts are being addressed, two major factors in our decline and player recruitment is looking up regarding attitude etc. Another major factor which has plagued us over the past few years. Things are looking up, IMO.

I think last night was evidence that DC has put together a squad which has a genuine spirit about it - I really do think most Rovers sides I've seen over the last 4 years would have folded at 2-1 and the momentum would have been killed by such a sloppy goal. But these guys kept going and kept the crowd onside by doing it whereas in previous occasions heads would have dropped, players would have shirked and the fans would have gotten on the back of the team creating a vicious cycle; I hope that might be a bit of a turning point in terms of the fan-player relationship.

I live iin Bournemouth and watch them regularly. Its true they have rich owners but so do a host of less successful clubs. Bournemouth are the best side outside the Premiership because they have a very very good manager. Need I say more !

I believe that also. The way Clarke changed the side around, the fighting spirit in the side, not always shown mind you!! shows to me that Darrel Clarke is getting it right on the field and, judging by this seasons contracts an wages for the new players, Rovers are finally cutting their cloth accordingly. The Rovers are not a quick fix, imo. It will take a few years to rectify the previous years of bad management but we are getting there and the supporters who turn out home, and away, are seeing that. Anything we achieve this season is a bonus, primarily because of the absolute shambles the club was/is in. Consolidation is the objective for this season in my eyes. Not instant promotion. But if it happens, happy days.

Have seen us beat Stoke twice at the Brittania .Once 4-1 courtesy of a Cureton hat -trick.Great going to work then up here .Now the Stokies take the wet about us playing at Braintree and Alfreton .'Wev'e got Chelsea Monday but see you had Gateshead'.However, still love my boys despite the lack of ambition crap stadium and mediocrity we have endured for too long.Sad that teams with tiny crowds such as Morecambe and Dagenham from whom wev'e loaned a player, do so much better than us but loved Fri night and 'Warts and All' Rovers are in my blood.

I didn't realise Bournemouth had a wealthy owner, shame really, the romantic in me was enjoying seeing them on top of the table and Brentford not far behind. Still, it is good to see different teams doing well.

We never usually had a problem beating Bournemouth at home and I've seen us win there twice.

I reckon I must have been to Bournemouth 7 or 8 times and only seen one win (on a night game, possibly the Michael Kuipers one)

We beat them at Dean Court in 99/00 and 00/01, I was at both. Cureton scored a blinder in the first game, I think.
I had forgotten we beat them away in the Cup in 2006. I don't think I was there.
I hadn't realised quite how bad our record was against them in the 1980s and early 90s though, no wonder they're remembered as a bogey club! Ten games without a win in all competitions between 1985 and 1994, including six successive defeats.
