Now, this is my take on Saturday. Firstly I did'nt go so I can't actually comment on the performance apart from the bit I heard on the radio and the report from my mate. But, the result was not to be unexpected after a conversation I had with 2 gents at Welling. I ended up on the terrace at the far end at Welling last Saturday and got talking to these 2 chaps stood right behind the goal Welling were defending in the second half. They were telling me how they scout for Rovers in the London area and had previously been to watch Bath play and their impression was that, "They were sh*t but they'll be a totally different team when they play Rovers next week". They both said that if Rovers wanted to beat them they'd need their best team and to take the game seriously. Take out of that what you want!!!
So, a couple of questions came to mind in the aftermath;
Did Rovers want it? Did Rovers want to be in it? Were Rovers more interested in the Gateshead game coming up? Were Rovers more interested in the games over Christmas? Did it mean more to Bath to win it and be in it? Is Darryll Clarke happy to be out of this competition and now be able to concentrate on getting us out of the Conference?
I would say No, No, Yes, Yes, Yes and most definitely YES.
As an aside, 1 thing that did stick with me is another comment that both these chaps said, and that is that in their opinion Rovers are a 20 goal a season striker short of being the top side and one that will compete strongly in the league above. I tend to agree.
UP THE GAS

I go to matches and tell people I'm a scout then talk sh1t about players.
I go to parties and tell people I'm an archaeologist too then talk sh1t about dinosaurs.
Sometimes I get my mate in on it.

Sorry, the pair of them had Rovers paperwork they were marking and to be fair had no reason to lie. Then again, your type of reply is what I expected...... take out of that what you want!!

I'm sure it was posted on the old forum.

Ah well, pork and education...... Rovers next opponents after Bath are...........Gateshead!!! Right Fred and Bert, get in the car and get up to Gateshead, we know it's on a Sunday and you can watch it on the tele but we need live info. Oh, we don't pay expenses for that type of trip but take a packed lunch and do your best!! My word, we are rather unintelligent down here......

I often am, or am I missing the point of the post yet again? But I would draw the line at ''unintelligent'' though. A step too far for me.
