I'll address both brothers in one post as their constant echoing of each other's opinions is hard to keep up with.
The 80s was the 80s. Yes, Denis saved the club. You'll never find a post from me criticising him. Geoff brought Barry with him, the same Barry who with Martin Flook almost killed the club. The family are made up of separate people so it's easy to have different opinions of different members.
Pretty much ever since Denis stepped aside, the club has been, save for a few years when Lennie and Paul brought some unlikely success, on a downward spiral.
The Share Scheme having to save the club, the same Share Scheme having their holding diluted, Kevin, Mike and Colin being cast aside for daring to have an idea of the club being run as a business, losses almost every year, fans being lied to (Cheltenham?), manager after manager being given loadsamoney and failing, 2 relegations.
Perhaps you buy Geoff's line that he was in charge for the good times but wasn't involved in the bad times. If you believe that then you are stupid.
Perhaps you blame Higgs for everything. Who brought Higgs in?
You can live in the past all you like but with borrowing from the business equivalent of a payday lender, maybe we won't have a club soon.
His father saved the club but under the leadership since 2010, and really since 2000 save 2 years, the club's been sinking while other clubs, smaller than ours, run themselves properly and prosper. Cheltenham, Yeovil, Brentford, Chesterfield. Not a oligarch in sight but they make us look like a joke.
Are you happy with the club at present? If you are, get your head out of your 1985 Evening Post and look around you.

At some point we are all going to have to draw a line under the past, accept that we are where we are and move forward. GD has no involvement in the club now and IMHO NH is going to stand down once the Sainsburys debacle is resolved. At worst we will get some compensation from Sainsburys and the club will still own the Mem. The Barclays loan has been reducing since the stadium was acquired so prior to refinancing, there was a significant amount of equity and our debt was largely internal. The key to whether the refinancing is a positive move lies in what the money has been or will be used for. A couple of other points; MSP are probbaly charging more than Barclays but without knowing the terms it is wrong to assume we are paying extortionate rates I know Barclays well and trust me, its not a case of what they believe will or will not happen. It is a case that if the business is not currently generating sufficient profits to service a loan they are not interested.

Very true, having watched how Banks treat small business on that Panorama programme the other week, i glad to be rid of them and remember Barclays have more fines over the Rate fixing scandal than any other bank

If you're happy with 5th tier football and the reasons we're playing in it, you're either on the wind up or you're very easily pleased. The 'I'm a better fan' act referencing match attendance is pretty sad.

Why would anyone like Geoff so much except for Geoff himself? If your brother praises Geoff then he's pretty stupid tbf. I'm sure that you will get to Love GD is you got to know him better and understand the outstanding service the family has given and will continue to give with Peter So Henbury are you saying Peter is going on the Board and to invest in BRFC?

GD still has a 15% holding in the club, so maybe Peter will be looking after that ??

This is actually quite a funny conspiracy theory and completely untrue- if folk spoke only with facts threads wouldn't get to 12 pages very quickly. Its true Ian, heard it from folk who have no reason to lie. If Box 1 were open and honest threads wouldn't get to 12 pages. Bearing in mind where I sit every match day there is a part of your post I wont comment on, even if I had heard anything (I have not) but the comments re Higgs/Williams and Dunford not speaking is completely untrue. Indeed all three act like gentlemen and grown ups whenever in each others presence, as you'd expect from business men. They can separate differences of opinion from how to behave. Higgs has behaved appallingly to Kevin Spencer but the comments made above are certainly not reflected in what we see day to day each matchday. There's a whole lot less smoke and mirrors and secret squirrel than most people make out.

Bristol rugby fan for those who thought I was a city fan I have no interest in football really but do in the mem and I for one am hoping u lot go belly up we can buy our home back for a £1 and turf u lot out on to the streets! And that situation is looking more and more likely I work in finance for small businesses and some medium size and mcp are like the wonga of the business world there is quiet often one outcome when they are involved. They call in there debts on the date signed in the contract which is usually within 12 months I've never seen longer, then they strip you of your assets that the loan was secured against and bang they have there profit and who ever has nothing! And you can guarantee they valued the loan at about 40% of what they seen the assets are worth good luck you are going to need it. Thank god the rugby have a good backer now. Come on bris

For the record what I heard was Williams and Turl made the offer for the playing side only, and didn't get a call. Guess Geoff was not involved as Higgs is now running things.

What an ungrateful fool you are.
Rovers paid Bristol Rugby the same for 50% of the Mem as they had agreed to sell the whole Mem to Amtrak for ( approx £2 Million ) - in effect we gave you the money and 50% of the ground back. The later £10,000 payment would have applied if either party had gone out of business, but in reality we paid £10K more than you were going to get from Amtrak.
Even after we took complete control of the ground we then let you play there for a very good rent ( £100K ).
You then had the opportunity to join us at UWE, but sold out to Lansdown as yet again you could not balance the books.
How you have anything to blame Rovers for is beyond me, if anything we helped you. Amazing.
Can't see us going out of business while Higgs has £20Million or so from the sale of Cowlin, and we only a few million and have an asset now worth £15-20 Million even if Sainsbury's does not happen.

You've already proved you'd come on here and lie because of your weirdo petty grievances, so you can't really expect us to take you very seriously, can you? Still, at least it's vaguely amusing to see you stewing in your resentment and bitterness.

Are we of all people having a go at another sports team for failing to balance the books?
